Retired CONSOL bookkeeper, Mavis Banks Morgan dies at 88

Memorial services for Mavis Banks Morgan, 88, of Prestonsburg, will be held at 2 p.m., April 27, at Polly & Craft Funeral Home in Jenkins. Burial will be in Powell Valley Memorial Gardens at Big Stone Gap, Va.

Born in McRoberts to the late Leonard H. and Mattie Lou Collins Banks, she died February 18, 2013 at Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg.

She was the widow of George Morgan, and a sister of the late Ralph Banks, Ray Banks, and an infant sister.

She was retired as a bookkeeper for the CONSOL and Beth-Elkhorn Coal Corporations, was a member of the Jenkins United Methodist Church. She was a former member of the Pine Mountain Chapter No. 147, Order of the Eastern Star in Jenkins.

Surviving are a son, George Morgan Jr., and wife Marilyn of Paintsville, and a grandson, George C. Morgan of Paintsville.
