Jerry Miller - Class Of 1966

Jerry Denzil Miller, age 67, of Jenkins, Kentucky, passed away on July 19, 2015 at the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Center, Hazard, Kentucky.  He was born on December 18, 1947 in Burdine, Kentucky, where he was raised; he had make Jenkins his home for most of his life.  Jerry had worked as a coal miner and was a member of the United Mine Workers of America.  He was a veteran of the United States Army.  Jerry was an avid outdoorsman, who loved the mountains, hiking, fishing and going to their family cabin on Raven Rock.  He took great enjoyment in spending time with family and friends.  Jerry had been a member of the Burdine Freewill Baptist Church for over forty years. 

   He was a son of the late Fred Miller and Margie Ball Miller.  Jerry was also preceded in death by a sister, Jeanne Hayes; and two brothers, Jim Miller and John Miller.

   He is survived by his wife, Judy Lucas Miller, of Jenkins, Kentucky; four sisters, Judy Marshall (Denver), of Loveland, Ohio, Janice Kea (Tracy), of Bennettsville, South Carolina, Juanita Ruth (Rodney), of Elkhorn City, Kentucky, and Joan Narramore (Bob), of McRoberts, Kentucky; a brother, Jack Miller (Mary), of Columbia, South Carolina; nieces and nephews, who were dear to Jerry’s heart; and many other relatives and friends.

   Visitation will be held on Tuesday July 21, 2015 after 6:00 PM at the Burdine Freewill Baptist Church.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday July 22 at 12:00 PM at the church, with Pastor Wayne Keith officiating.  Interment will follow at the Miller Family Cemetery, Burdine, Kentucky.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass or the Myotonic Muscular Dystrophy Association.
