Let Us Pause To Honor the Memory of Mrs. JoAnn Banks Sparkman 

Mrs. JoAnn Banks Sparkman, age 84, of Dupont, Indiana entered this life on August 30, 1934 in Letcher County, Kentucky near Cromona. She grew up in the Chopping Branch Hollow and attended school there. She was the loving daughter of the late Jesse Irvin and Edith Nunnley Banks. She was raised in the Old Regular Baptist Church and later attended Dupont United Methodist Church. She worked early in life as a nanny and at Craft's Five and Dime Store in Neon, Kentucky prior to coming to Jefferson County in 1953. On December 26, 1954 JoAnn was united in marriage to Jack Sparkman in Jeffersonville, Indiana. This happy union of 52 years was blessed with a daughter, Cheryl Diane and sons, Phillip Glenn, and David Wayne. JoAnn worked for several years at Arvin's in North Vernon, Reliance Electric in Madison and the Cardinal Grill in North Vernon. She was a devoted wife, loving mom, mamaw and gigi. She loved to cook, go fishing, sewing, gardening, crocheting and making arts and crafts. JoAnn died on Sunday, December 9, 2018, at 4:24 a.m. at her home in Dupont, Indiana. 

A LOVING FAMILY 

JoAnn will be missed by her loving daughter, Cheryl Diane Chuckry and her husband, Steve of Madison, Indiana; her loving sons, Phillip Glenn Sparkman and his wife, Sandra of Commiskey, Indiana, David Wayne Sparkman and his wife, Dawn of Madison, Indiana; her loving grandchildren, Cara Fox (Doug), Kelly Davis, Jennifer Rae Colen (Kris), Matthew Sparkman (Shelby Terry), Erika Jo Buxton (Cody), Jennifer Miles ( Chaffee), Jesse Chuckry (Amber), Brielle Chuckry, and Sierra Chuckry; her adoring great grandchildren, Mitchell Davis, Lillian Hope Fox, Addy Colen, Eli Colen, Jackson Buxton, Grady Miles, Harper Miles, Kingdon Davis, Hunter Pearson, Sebastion Chuckry, and Irie Davis; her brothers, Keith Banks, Irvin Banks and his wife, Betty, and Bob Banks and his wife, Peggy all of McRoberts, Kentucky; her sisters, Ruby Maggard and her husband, Clyde, Sue Hall and her husband, James, Kay Cook and her husband, Jesse, and Teresa Wyatt all of McRoberts, Kentucky; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her father, Jesse Irvin Banks, her mother, Edith Nunley Banks, her beloved husband of 52 years, Jack Sparkman, died December 13, 2006, her grandson, Jonathan George, died December 14, 2010, her brothers, Ray Lee and Steven Michael Banks, and her sisters, Frances Mullins and Reba Nell Banks. 

FUNERAL CEREMONY 

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, December 15, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., by Pastor Frank McGee at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Dupont Cemetery in Dupont, Indiana.
