Danny Ratliff - Class Of 1970

Danny Carl Ratliff, age 67, of Burdine, Kentucky passed from this life on Wednesday, the 20th of March 2019 at Hazard Hospice Center. He was the son of the Late Marvin Woodrow Ratliff and Ardath Loraine Looney Ratliff. He was born June 15, 1951 in Burdine, Kentucky. 

      Preceding him in death, other than his parents, were his brothers: Charles Marvin, James Thomas and Roger Ladon;  sisters: Shirley Baker, Donna Kaye Ratliff and Rita Joan Machniak.

     Surviving him are his two children: Danny William Ratliff of North Carolina and Loraine Gail Emily Ratliff of Burdine, Kentucky; granddaughter, Danielle and grandson, Danny Jr.; great grandchildren; six brothers: Rex Douglas, David Ralph, Orbie Oscar, Ricky Neil, Jeffrey Lynn and Randy Keith( all of Burdine, Kentucky); one sister, Victoria Ratliff of Southgate, Michigan; many nieces and nephews that love and miss him very much. “Danny was a true mountain maN.

 If you knew Danny, you know he loved the outdoors.  He led many a person through the caves in the mountain above Jenkins.  The bottom picture was taken in the old Jenkins Tunnel that runs through the mountain from Pound, Virginia.  The tunnel was used for only a few years by Consolidation Coal Company to haul coal.  At some point the tunnel fell in on the Virginia side of the tunnel.  That side was a wooden structure.
