James F. "Chum" Tackett - Class Of 1960

James F. “Chum” Tackett , of Booneville, Kentucky and Jenkins, Kentucky passed away peacefully on February 17, 2017 after a long illness. James was born on December 31, 1941; being seventy- five years old. 

James was preceded in death by his parents: Frank Harvey Tackett and Leitha Ray Tackett; five brothers: Grant Tackett, Billy Tackett, Donald Tackett, Grayson Tackett and Thurman Tackett ; two sisters: Lexie Ambrose and Patricia Persinger.

Mr. Tackett is survived by his loving wife of almost fifty-two years, Juanita Jean (Webb) Tackett; one daughter, Kimberly Jean (Sonny ) Price of Booneville, Kentucky; one son, James Harvey (Jan) Tackett of Owingsville, Kentucky; seven grandchildren: Jacob Addison of Booneville, Kentucky, Trevor Addison of Booneville, Kentucky, Jordan (Misty) Tackett of Uniontown, Kentucky; Jared (Mary) Tackett of Sweet Briar, Virginia, Jonah Tackett of Owingsville, Kentucky, Blake Price of Lexington, Kentucky and Brooke Price of Lexington, Kentucky; three great grandchildren: Koby, Reece and Cash; three sisters: Dorsey Ray Smallwood of Lexington, Kentucky, Selena Sue Gilbert of Lily, Kentucky and Mary Nell Frazier of Marion, Ohio; one brother, Jack Tackett of Hendersonville, North Carolina ; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other family and many friends.

James was a loving father, papaw, husband, brother, uncle, brother-in-law and friend. His greatest joy above all, was his family. James had many talents: from barbering, to magistrate, to mayor, to helping those in need, being administrator of Golden Year’s Rest Home for thirty-five years, to being the biggest Cleveland Browns fan. But above all, was James’ Christian faith and that his journey hasn’t ended; it’s just begun. And for those that knew him, he was truly a blessing.

Visitation will be held on Saturday-February 18, 2017 at the Searcy & Strong Funeral Home in Booneville, Kentucky from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM and then at the Polly & Craft Chapel in Jenkins, Kentucky from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Funeral services will be conducted at the Polly & Craft Chapel at 1:00 PM on Sunday- February 19, 2017; with Pastor Floyd Johns and Reverend Alfred Webb officiating. Burial will follow in the Leith Ray Tackett Cemetery at Burdine, Kentucky.
