Jane Vaughn (Price) - Class Of 1938

Jane Vaughan Price, 99, died October 11 at Arden Courts of Seminole, Fla.

Born in Jenkins to the late Tobe D. Vaughan and Mary H. Vaughn, she was the widow of Frank H. Price Jr., Vice Admiral, USN, retired, formerly of Van Lear.

She was graduated from Jenkins High School and Agnes Scott College with high honors.

Mrs. Price taught mathematics in middle and high schools in Kentucky and Maryland.

She was an active volunteer in organizations that support Navy families, and served a term as President of the Naval Officers’ Wives’ (now Spouses’) Club of Washington D.C.

The Prices moved from Bethesda, Md., to Largo, Fla., to be near Mrs. Price’s parents, who had moved to Sarasota, Fla.

Mrs. Price played the piano and loved classical music, history, art, travel, tennis, and bridge.

Surviving are a son, Frank E. Price and Sue Ann Miller of Clinton, N.Y.; a daughter Mary V. Price and Nick Waser of Tucson, Ariz.; a grandson, Scott Price of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and a granddaughter, Alta Price and Jonah Koppel of Chicago, Ill.

The family will hold a service at the U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, Md., at a date to be determined.
