Mullins, Mary Lou July 18, 2015

TULLAHOMA - Mary Lou Mullins, 82, of Tullahoma, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Life Care Center of Tullahoma after an extended illness. She was born in Jenkins, Kentucky to the late Charles I. and Della Whitaker. Mary attended Morehead State and in February 1956, she married her devoted husband, Jimmy, at Chaumont Air Base in France. After returning to the United States, she and her husband lived in many states during his career in the Air Force. The family finally settled in Tullahoma in 1972. Mary was employed as the first manager of Northgate Mall when it opened in 1976. She also owned the Carousel Ice Cream shop and Toys, Etc. where she earned the name “Dragon Lady” from her employees. She was an avid and excellent seamstress winning eight local and state sewing competitions as a member of The Tullahoma Women’s Club. She loved to travel, especially on cruises, and volunteered for Meals On Wheels for many years. She was preceded in death by son, Mark Rodney, parents Charles and Della, and two brothers Carl and Tommy. She is survived by her husband, Jimmy; daughter, Durinda (Gerry); son Kevin (Robbin); brother, Danny; sister, Diane; and grandchildren Elliott and Claire. Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Tullahoma Funeral Home Thursday, July 23, 2015.
