Carles Sizemore - Class Of 1956

Carles R. Sizemore, 83 of Dyer, Indiana passed away on December 16, 2020 after a 14 day fight with Covid-19.  Carles is preceded by his parents, Monroe and Marie (nee Asher) Sizemore, his son Scott Sizemore, his sister Bobbie Jean, brother Morris, along with other loved brother and sister-in-laws.

Carles was born in the Eastern Mountains of Kentucky in the Town of McRoberts in 1937, coming from a lifetime family lineage of Coal Miners. It would be here in these Beautiful Mountain Towns that he met the love of his life, Judy Farley.  He loved her so much that on the day she graduated High School, he was at the door to take her over to the town Court House with a permission slip from her mother to get married. They did just that and left the Mountains on their way to New York City to meet up with his sisters Shirley (Sizemore) and Ronnie Frazier, sister Bobbie Jean (Sizemore) and Hyman Feurestein, brother Morris and Brenda Sizemore.  In 1963, they went to Indiana seeking out new lives in the Steel Industry.  He began at Inland Steel/Arcelor Mittal where he worked for 34 years. It was here they would lay their roots and have their three children: Robin, Tracy and Scott. Scott passed away in 2012.

In his younger years, he served in the United States Air Force. He also loved his Harley Davidson and tried to teach his sister Shirley how to ride it, but she only made it across the yard. He was fast enough to jump on it to ride it across the field, just in time to catch all of us kids skinny dipping in the creek. He would make us run back to the house while he followed behind on his Motorcycle. The passion for Motorcycles later passed on to his son Scott who had many in his time and his daughter Tracy, who is still an Avid Rider today.

He enjoyed being retired and spending time with his beloved wife Judy. They went everywhere together, traveled for the 58 years they have been together. He enjoyed working on anything with an engine. He could fix anything that I ever knew of. His last unfinished project is a go-cart.  His favorite pastime was watching old Western Movies on TV.  He liked it so much his Nephew David Farley surprised him with theatre TV so Dad could watch his westerns on the Big Screen.

Carles is survived by his wife Judy (Farley) Sizemore, his daughter Robin (Scott) May, Tracy (Ron) DuVall, grandchildren, Kyle May, Vaughn May, Aaron DuVall, and Sarah Sizemore, Great Grandchildren Sebastian and Ryder.  The Greatest love of his life was first his Wife, children and the special bond he hadwith his grandchildren.  He was their Papa, their Teddy Bear andanything that went wrong mechanically everybody called him first. But he was also a great friend to them and always Givingout Life Advice or his strong opinion about it.

Carles is survived by his Sister, Ruby (Dr. William) Shade, Brother Don (Joyce) Sizemore, his baby Sister Shirley (Ronnie) Frazier, Brother in Law, Jerry (Joyce) Farley, Joe (Barb) Farley, and Sister in Law Mary Farley who has recently lost her beloved Husband Jack Farley.

He has so many nieces and nephews to list them all and he loved every one of them dearly. He will be deeply missed by his Family and those that had the pleasure to meet him in this life. We take Great Comfort that just a short time ago, his Sister Ruby and Dr. William Shade his family and lifelong Minister, had recently come to visit.   At that visit after years of Dr. William Shade and his Sister Ruby having taught him even as a child about Jesus, it was in November of 2020, at this visit with them Carles he verbally accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior.  I know Dr .William Shade and his Sister Ruby waited a good 50 years for that very special day to come.

At this time, we hope that after the Covid-19 Crises is over Family may be able to gather at some point. His wife Judy has said, over and over My Beautiful Man, So Sweet, So Loving for all and Cared by Many.
