Michael David Hayes, 63, passed away Saturday September 25, 2021 from his residence with family by his side.  

Mike was a Christian and he loved his Lord and Savior. He was a retired coal miner with 40 plus years of underground experience. Mike was a Mopar fanatic, he loved Hemi Cudas an was an avid muscle car collector. He loved long rides on his Harley Davidson motorcycles, going on trail rides on the side by side and the four wheeler, he was also a big gun enthusiasts. 

But Mike… better known to his grandson as Papaw Punk, loved his grandkids with all his heart, and was always telling people how much he loved them. 

Mike is preceded in death by his son, Michael Wayne Hayes, his parents, David Ralph and Alice Mae (Oliver) Hayes and a brother, Roger Wayne Hayes.

Survivors include his grandchildren, Michael Wayne Hayes Jr and Eden Grace Hayes- Potter; a sister, Sharon Hayes- Louisville, KY; a brother, James Hayes- Jenkins, KY; special nephew Jeremy Hayes and wife Misty-Blackey, KY; other nieces and nephews;  special friends, Jamie Hall- Jenkins, KY and Charles “Buckwheat” Williams- Coeburn, VA; his four legged companion and best buddy,Brownie; and a host of friends and loved ones. 

Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 pm Wednesday September 29, 2021 at the Hemphill Freewill Baptist Church – Jackhorn, KY, with Pastor Danny Hurst officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until time of services.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00am Thursday 

September 30, 2021 at the Holbrook Cemetery- Neon, KY where 

Michael Wayne Hayes Jr., Jamie, Jeremy, “Buckwheat”, Jeremiah, 

Justin and Levi will serve as pallbearers.
