James Clinton “ Bo” Hopkins, Jr., of Jenkins, died November 2 at Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital.

A son of James and Judy Hopkins, he was born in Pike County. Shortly afterward his parents moved to Wheaton Hollow in Jenkins to live beside Mrs. Hopkins’s parents, whom James Hopkins loved dearly.

Mr. Hopkins graduated high school in 1987 from Jenkins High School. He started working for the city government in 1989 and eventually became the drinking water supervisor.

He was a Class IV A water treatment plant operator. He was also an excellent welder and an avid barterer. He loved fast cars and motorcycles.

He was a Christian and attended Burdine Freewill Baptist Church.

His children from his first marriage with Tabitha Manis are Matthew Hopkins and wife Lori, Shawn Hopkins, Natalie McCray and husband Phillip, and Emma Sumner and husband. He was an adoptive father to his former wife’s child, Jordan Manis, and stepfather to his wife Rhonda’s children, Richard Rains and wife Magon and Brook Fleming. He was survived by his brother, Tony Hopkins, and a lifelong friend considered to be a brother, Todd De- Priest. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Kimber Rains, Archer Sumner, Greyson and Blakely Mc- Cray, and Idun Hopkins.
