Paul Baker - Class Of 1958

Paul M. “Barber” Baker, 84, died January 12 at his home at Burdine.

Paul was born at Burdine on October 23, 1937 to the late Delbert and Violas Mullins Baker, he was the father of the late Michelle Lynne Baker.

He was the father-in-law of the late Tony Stanley, and a brother of the late Glaydes Sweeney, Herbert Ray Shortt, Verlin Baker, Benny Baker, and Lindsey Baker.

An icon in the Jenkins community, he served as a barber and notary for nearly 60 years. A devout family man, Paul always had a smile on his face and a joke up his sleeve.  His love for his family, old western movies and the community he served was clear to anyone that ever sat in his chair. People came fromall around to get a haircut, hot shave and a piece of the signature bubble gum that always sat stop the cabinet in the shop.  Truly one of the great ones he will be sorely missed by all who knew him

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Patricia Baker; a daughter, Nancy Baker Stanley of Jenkins; two grandsons, Dustin Paul Wright and wife Melissa of Kempner, Tex., and Christopher Wright of Jenkins; two great-grandsons Mason Kyler and Jackson Riley Wright; and a sisterin, Ruth Baker of Taylor, Mich.
