Carl "Joe" Douglas Duty

October 12, 1953 ~ February 22, 2022

Carl Douglas Duty, more commonly known as “Joe” to his friends, of Neon, KY, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at the Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, Kentucky, making his brief stay on this earth 68 years.

He was born in Whitesburg, Kentucky unto the union of the late Donald Bee and Maggie Varner Duty on October 12, 1953.  He was a retired coal miner with I.C.G. Coal Company and a member of the U.M.W.A.
He had a love for fast cars, especially Mustangs.   He enjoyed watching WWE Wrestling and spending time with his grandchildren.  

He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Shirley Sturgill Duty, son, Erick Joseph Duty, sister, Linda Lou Duty.

Left to cherish his memory, sons, Donald Lee (Kristy) Duty of Jenkins, KY, Chris Douglas (Shyann) Duty of Neon, KY, brothers, Ricky (Libby) Duty of Jenkins, KY, Roy (Connie) Duty of McRoberts, KY, sister, Donna Sue (Gene) Swift of North Carolina, grandchildren, Haley, Darren and Madison.

Visitation will be held Friday, February 25, 2022, from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Fleming Church of God in Neon, KY.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at 11 a.m. from the church with Rodney and Gloria Wright officiating.

Burial will follow in the McRoberts Cemetery in McRoberts, KY.
