Gary Allen Hall was called home by his heavenly Father on May 14, 2026 at the age of 66. He was born on November 13th, 1959 in Jenkins, Kentucky to Gary and Dorothy Hall.

Beloved husband of Rhoda for nearly 46 years. Loving father of Brandon Hall (Laura). Caring grandfather of Logan and Lily. Cherished son of the late Dorothy Carol Hall, the late Gary Bernard Hall, and the late Elizabeth "Betty" Hall. Dear brother of Michael Dean Hall (Theda), Martha Milner (Joe), and the late Lorie Thompson (Jackie). Caring son-in-law of Joyce Hall and the late Johnnie Hall. Devoted brother-in-law of the late John Lee Hall (Debbie). Uncle of Drew Hall (Whitney), Jordan Hall (Hannah), Jacie Thompson, and Emily Thompson (Chris). Also survived by great nieces and great nephews: Holden, Tinsley, Blayne, Foxton, and Leia.

Growing up in southeastern Kentucky, Allen enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, and simply spending time in the “woods” beginning at a very young age. Allen would reminisce of the time spent in the mountains, and the summers spent camping and fishing at Cherokee Lake in Tennessee with his siblings and parents.

Allen was a welder by trade, but was truly an encyclopedia of knowledge for anything repair or maintenance related. For 39 years, Allen worked for Honhart Midnight Black and Atlas Welding in Troy, Michigan, holding various positions over the years and retiring as the General Manager of Honhart Midnight Black in 2020, managing the black oxide metal coating business and processes. Allen was a dedicated employee of Honhart, building lifelong friendships from his time there.

Allen built a life anchored in serving others. From 1975-1980, Allen served as a volunteer firefighter with the Jenkins Fire Department in Kentucky. Allen was a third-generation firefighter with Jenkins Fire Department, and he was always proud of his time spent serving his Kentucky community. Allen later joined the Rochester Fire Department Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), where he served for the past 14 years.

Allen was a long-time member of Bridge Community Church in Troy, Michigan (formerly Covenant Alliance Church in Beverly Hills, Michigan) and previously of Dequindre Road Baptist Church in Warren, Michigan. Allen would often utilize his handyman skills in any opportunity that was available to serve Jesus, the community, the members of the church congregation, or where ever those skills were needed.

Since 2012, Allen truly enjoyed serving as a team leader on the Rochester Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) whenever he was able. He worked many types of events and enjoyed working with our CERT team and serving the community.

Allen was the loving husband of Rhoda for nearly 46 years. Allen and Rhoda wed in Warren, Michigan on July 5th, 1980. Allen was a devoted, loyal, patient, and adoring husband. Allen would often deliver lunch or beverages to Rhoda at work to make her work day easier, and as a chance just to visit her.

Allen was a loving father to Brandon. However, one of Allen’s favorite roles was “Grandpa” to Logan and Lily. Allen always made a point to be present at all events to support his son and grandchildren, no matter if it was a game, recital, or award ceremony. Allen enjoyed sharing his passions, especially of fishing with Brandon, Lily, and especially Logan.

Throughout his life, Allen had an impact on many people. Allen will be missed by many.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at Steen Funeral Home - 13th Street Chapel, with words of comfort provided by Blake Herron. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. till service time at 11:00 A.M. Entombment will take place privately at Rose Hill Burial Park.
