Aloha kakou,
Hopefully folks will have time to post to this website - a great idea to keep the information in one place - mahalo Joann for your kokua on this.

I am serving on the LACA board and hope you all will check out the LACA website too and support the events as they are announced. I know a bunch of our classmates continue to kokua with the annual golf tourney - good way to support LACA scholarship funds and have fun on Lana'i.

My Dear classmates,
This year is going to be our 40 yr. reunion and we are
going to celebrate it on Lanai.I have not seen some of
you since high school and others just a few months ago.
You have to realize that this may be our last get
together in life, and I'm looking forward to seeing all
of you. Lanai and my classmate brings a special warmth
in my heart when I think of all of you. I only wish is
that I would have kept in touch with most of you on a
regular basis. Having said that have a good life if I
don't see you on Lanai. If I do see you on Lanai
a round of Pune juice is on me!!!!!!!!!!!

Aloha kakou the mighty class of '69,

It was great to see you all at the 40th Class Reunion on Lana'i...perhaps the most significant change is that WE don't feel older even tho' we are physically 'aging.' Most of the faces were the same, in fact some didn't change at all...(must be the Filipino genes).

Our fearless president-4-life Bruce Matsuura once again took the reins at Saturday's 'program' an event coordinated by Joanne with kokua from her committee of Bernie, Wade, Mattie, Cathy, Frances, and other helping hands. Brian did a sincere aknowledgement of our classmates who 'ua hala' (passed on) and added his own memory for each classmate.

The music, food and talk story throughout the weekend was great...folks catching up with each other's news.

Next reunion is 2011 to celebrate everyone's 60th birthday...WOW :) can we even believe that significant date coming soon? Stay tuned for date & activities for 2011 Birthday Bash and yes, it is on Lana'i. Please plan to be there! and if you want to kokua, let me know - we have a committee of sorts. Hey There All...

Life goes on and we get older but that's just in our minds right!!!

Congrats to Clayton who just became a grandfather!!! Adding on tho the Oyama line. Wow Clay...you really need to enjoy the little one because believe it or not they just grow too fast...before you know it you'll be chasing the little on araound!!!

Dess and I are doing well!!! Although times are hard we're surviving. Can't do a lot of things I used to do but times will get better.

Thinking of ideas for our next gathering which is coming up too soon. Not to sure about horseback riding...I'm trying to contact the stables to see what kind of prcing we canget and am also trying to find out what Hale Kapuna will charge and the restrictions. Do we want to cater or do we want to do pot luck??? if we do pot luck let's talks story and we can split costs instead of having too many dishes...your thoughts!!!

40th was fun!!! do you think we should have a night with parents who are still here and maybe some of our teachers that are still around...Mr. Oshima, Mr. Matsui, Mrs. Akahoshi, Mrs. Sakamoto maybe even Mrs. Camero (Secretary)...Again...your thoughts.

ALOHA MATES...

WE HAD A GRAND TIME AT THE LAST REUNION. TRIED TO GET SOME OF OUR TEACHERS THERE BUT ONLY MR/MRS OSHIMA COULD MAKE IT...

ONCE AGAIN SO MUCH FOOD AND ALL WE DID WAS EAT OVER THE WHOLE WEEKEND. FRIDAY NIGHT WAS THE BIRTHDAY CAKES WITH ALL THIS DELICIOUS FOOD AND DESSERTS. LOTS OF TALK STORY AND REMINICING.

SATURDAY WAS A FUN DAY AT ISSAC'S PLACE. AGAIN LEN AND GUY CAME TO THE RESCUE AND DID A LOT OF THE BARBEQUE AND SO WE WERE SAVED FROM ALL THAT SMOKE. OLD YEAT BOOKS WERE BROUGHT OUT AND YOU SHOULD HAVE HEARD THE LAUGHS AS WE LOOKED AT OLD PHOTOS OF OURSELVES. THE CAMARADERIE WENT ON THROUGH THE EVENING.

SUNDAY...BRUCE CAME THROUGH WITH BURGERS AND FRIES FOR ALL...MORE TALKING STORIES AND SHARING OF OUR LIVES. PLANNING FOR OUR NEXT REUNION WHICH IS FOR 2015...LOOKING FOR IDEAS AS TO WHAT THE PLANS ARE...CAMPING IN THE DESERT IN ARIZONA IS DEFINTIELY OUT!!! HA! HA!HA!...DON'T THINK WE CAN HANDLE WILD ANIMALS OR SNAKES!!! a CRUISE SOUNDED NICE BUT WE NEED TO START SAVING NOW!!!

WE HAD BREAKFAST WITH SHAREN WHEN SHE WAS ON LANAI...WE WENT TO THIS NEW PLACE CALLED "NOKAOI GRINDZ". THEIR HAMBURGERS REALLY TAST LIKE THE OLD TAIGAWA'S BURGERS. THEY HAVE A CHANGING MENU AND IT'S BECOME A VERY POPULAR GATHERING PLACE FOR LUNCH AND AT TIMES DINNER TOO!!!

ANY TIME YOU GUYS ON ISLAND GIVE ME A CALL AT THE HOSPITAL 808-565-8450 AND WE CAN TRY TO HOOK UP...LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING YOU ALL AT SOME POINT AND TIME AND KEEP IN MIND AS CLASSMATES...YOU ALL HOLD A SPECIAL PLACE IN MY EACH OTHERS HEARTS...
