2 June 2015: It is with great sadness that I pass on the notice that Dorothy Bushey Mahaffey passed away 24 May 2015 of an aneurysm. Her birthday is 19 June 1945. I’m sorry I don’t have any further information. I believe it happened in or near Houston, TX. Peace to Dorothy and her family. There is a condolence email address on the Boomerang website: mailto: lndamohaf@gmail.com This is her daughter’s email. This daughter still lives in Larame. She does have a son, Jerry. There will be no services per Dorothy’s request. I will add more information if I receive anything.

Dorothy was what I would have called one of my best friends in high school and she was my Maid of Honor when I married. We shared a lot of secrets ... who we had crushes on, etc. We walked the halls before school started. Unfortunately, once I married at age 16, I never really kept in touch. Our lives had gone different routes and I had different priorities after my first child was born just nine months later. I had taken on a lot in my life with finishing high school and starting college. I now wish I had stayed in touch ... at least to 'do lunch' once in a while. By the time she and Earl married I had left Laramie. Thanks to Classmates I did track her down outside of Houston. We had a long phone conversation, then a few emails and she stopped. I found she was in a nursing home and called her there but she could not talk. I left it up to her to contact me when she had time ... I should not have dropped the ball. I should have 'bugged' her ... we had so much of life to catch up on.
Rest in Peace, My Friend. Hopefully we can catch up on old times when it is time for me to join you.
Her passing is a clear reminder that we do not have long to be on this earth and we need to cultivate those long forgotten friendships before it is too late.
