SUPERIOR -- Phillip Allen Schwerdfeger, 67, of Superior, died Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, at his home. 

A longtime Superior resident and former resident of Rock Springs, he died following a two-year illness.

He was born June 21, 1945, in Russell, Kan., the son of George and Blanche Stout Schwerdfeger. He attended schools in Laramie and was a 1963 graduate of Laramie High School.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and stationed on the U.S.S. Boxer. 

When he was discharged, he lived and worked in Los Angeles. He returned to Colorado in 1972 and worked in a machine shop. When he returned to Wyoming, he worked in the oil field and with Wyoming One Call as an underground line locator for 10 years until ill health forced his retirement in 2005. He also worked at Jim Bridger and did concrete work for Pulte Homes in Rock Springs.

Survivors include one sister, Lillian "Lil" McMartin of Rock Springs; sister-in-law, Virginia Schwerdfeger of Eaton, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Roy L. Schwerdfeger; Keith D. Schwerdfeger; and four sisters, Georgia Dumler, Ruth Glass, Mary Ann Sterling and Dorothy Tanton.

Cremation will take place. At his request, there will be no services at this time.
