
Michael Gene Scott
1944-2006
Michael Gene Scott, 61, Effingham, ILL., died April 3, 2006, in Effingham following an extended illness. He was born Dec. 22, 1944, and was a graduate of Laramie High School in 1962 and the University of Wyoming in 1970. He was a member of the Southern Baptist Church in Laramie. He graduated from UW and received his advance degree from San Jose (California) State College as a licensed clinical psychologist. He resided in Springfield, Ill., when complications due to an accident resulted in his permanent confinement to a care facility. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Corinne Scott and a brother Rolland R. Scott. He is survivied by his sister-in-law, Betty Scott, of Laramie; an uncle, Dale Scott of Englewood, CO., a niece Penny Terry Goodman of Sheridan and Big Piney; a nephew Keith Scott of Wellington, CO; numerous cousins and most especially, his cousins Rebecca Clark Mayfield and Roger Clark of Effingham who saw to his care. Graveside services and inurnment will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Green Hill Cemetery with Pastor Gerald Crites officiating. A reception for family and friends will be at 12:30 p.m. at the Union Pacific Depot on First Street. Memorials may be made to a charity the donor feels would most honor his memory. Services are under the direction of Montgomery-Stryker Funeral Home.

You are correct. Mike did graduate in 1963 with our class. Mike's parents and a brother were deceased before Mike and at the time of his death a remaining sister-in-law was not sure of his graduation date, hence 1962 rather than 1963 was listed. I spoke at Mike's final services and talked about some of our (mostly funny) school experiences.
