This is Judy's obituary that was published in the Laramie Boomerang, 26 December 2013.
Judy (née Zook) Spiegelberg died at Ivinson Memorial Hospital on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013. She was born June 8, 1945, in Missouri and moved at a young age to Laramie with her parents who came to Laramie where her father became a lifetime employee of the Union Pacific Railroad.
Judy completed grade school, junior high and high school in the Albany County school system. She began dating her future husband John Spiegelberg while in high school.
Their marriage was blessed with two sons, Anthony and Vaughn, who reside in Wyoming.
In 1973, John and Judy founded John’s Building, a home improvement and house building business which has successfully continued for over forty years in the Laramie area. Judy was an integral part in the business operation and was quite multi-talented. They took pride, also, in the fact they raised their family in homes constructed with their own hands and labor. Their work ethic was passed onto their sons.
Judy’s interests included being a well-rounded homemaker, traveler and a loving and devoted mother and wife, and grandmother who always made an effort to attend all of their children’s and grandchildren’s family and school events, regardless of road conditions or travel distance. Judy was a longtime member of the Loveland Archaeological Society and shared many days and miles accompanying John to favorite artifact sites, especially the Shirley Basin area north of Laramie.
During the last several years, Judy and John traveled to Mayan pyramid sites in Mexico, twice to Alaska, and twice to the cape of South Africa. Judy’s health problems did not deter her from enduring the 23½ hour flight from Denver to South Africa. She savored every moment of traveling and loved to recount all the wonderful experiences. Judy’s gentle personality and positive attitude will always be an inspiration to those who knew her.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband John, of Laramie; son Anthony Spiegelberg and wife Jean, and their children, Taylor and Emily, all of Sheridan; son Vaughn Spiegelberg, of Cheyenne, and his children, Logan, Brock, Alexis and Ryker.
