I joined the Army in 1968 and after training was stationed near Seattle. I thought I had gone to heaven. The mountains and waters were so beautiful. I met my wife in Seattle, but before we were able to marry I was transferred to Italy. Diane joined me there and after a seeming never ending shuffle of paperwork, we were married in Vicenza, Italy. Twice in one day. Once by the Italian authorities, and later in the base chapel. Upon discharge we returned to Seattle where I found work with the Boeing Company.
I worked at Boeing for 35 years, starting as a mechanic on the 747, and for several years managed the entire Final Assembly of the 747 production line. I led Manufacturing in the development of the 767 Tanker Program before I retired. Retired in 2008, enjoyed a year of relaxing, and was asked to come back and assist again on the Tanker development. After another 4 1/2 years of that I retired again, this time for good. Really. My wife and I have done some traveling all across the West and love the freedom of road trips that take us to new adventures. I'm very happy, healthy, and love every day.
