My entire career currently based upon building games like this.

Makes it difficult to play them, honestly.

I got addicted to Doom II back in the 90's so I've pretty much steered clear of video games ever since. I like to stick to less damaging addictions like caffeine, alcohol, class a, b, and c narcotics, and farmyard sex videos. :-)

That is amazing video. I will never under estimate the intelligence of an autistic person. I work with them everyday.

Autistic people are visual thinkers/learners. I have read that visual thinking/learning is associated with being intellectually gifted. On that note, Albert Einstein was a visual thinker who failed his high school language requirement and relied on visual methods of study.

Nice "stach" Walter. I'm a lover of the goatee myself.

Hey Walter, your line of work always makes me think of the movie "Grandma's Boy". Any of you guys seen it? Where Gamers, grannies and stoners unite. LOL.

I think the number of kids born today with autism is kind of alarming. I know multiple familes who have kids with Aspergers. And then you think of how many people (especially women) that are on anti-depressants today [uh oh - here comes the soap box]... I tell ya - they're doing something to our food (read pumping them full of hormones). Won't be too long till we hear these imortal words from Charlton Heston.

The only thing Grandma's Boy got right was the cube decorations.

Most everything else was *way* off.

And I have a copy here in the office.

Janie Hott (Kintz)

I agree with you Teddy. Way lots of meds today for our children and who knows whats really in our foods.

"And then you think of how many people (especially women) that are on anti-depressants today" Wow - do I even want to hit this topic? All I'm saying is if men would accept sometimes that they might have a fucking problem then it wouldn't drive us women to have to take pills to deal with his shit.

Nothing against you Teddy, but I could write a research thesis on this topic.

I like pickles. Any size, but they have to be dill, I hate bread & butter pickles...but man I sure do love me some dill pickles. :)

Dill pickles eh?

Sherry Santmyer (Epling)

Wow Brendhan! Where did you get the dill pickle at? After a stressful day, I'm glad I checked on to this forum.

I'm with Janie, Ted. Stick to web development. Anti-depressants are a GOD send. They have nothing to do with autism, and neither do vaccines.

It's totally normal for people to look to blame someone or something when a child is not "normal," but honestly, the birth of a normal child is a freakin miracle. There is so much involved...it's phenomenal.

The increase in autism is largely due to better detection and awareness of physicians. These kids were labeled "retarded," or had "behavior problems" back in the day.

You are entitled to your opinion of course.

05/15/08 01:10 PM #222

Janie Hott (Kintz)

Amen to that Molly... and another thing - Im married, but you don't see my husband/partners name on my profile. Because I don't feel like writing anything about him. Pretty sad eh? Well, not for me.

Several years ago after his mother passed away he became a tad weird. I suggested (kindly) Prozac or another anti-depressant. Well he tried it for a month and then refused it. So in order to put up with his bullshit for years, I had to get on something. He said he "didn't like the way it made him feel" - well forgive me, but I didn't like the way 180 staples felt in my fucking head... OMG - in this life, you have to do what you got to do. If it means getting on a great pill that is going to help improve your life - fucking take it!

One thing I learned in life is to NEVER judge anyone. You never know where they've been. Anyone at anytime can be trying to overcome something - battling cancer, death... you don't know. And you know what? It's probably not your fucking business.

Michelle Stocks (McKinstry)

AMEN Molly! I always took having kids for gratned - It would happen when I was ready! HA!!! My 1st pregnancy almost killed me - literally - I had a ruptured ectopic at 8 week and the DR told me it was gas so I bleed internally for over 36 hrs. Then I was told that I would never be able to have a baby without lots of outside help - I fooled them and had my miracle baby (Jonathan) who was born with bleeding on his brain and almost died. Thankfully he is about to turn 6 and has no lasting effects. Then after my Crohn's became very severe I was told no more children for me - SURPRISE - I was pregnant - well I miscarried in 2006 and went on to have 2 more miscarrages before I had Matthew in 2007 (he turns 1 next week). He too ended up spending time in NICU and the Peds unit.

Sorry to go on and on but I take more meds than a normal person our age should have too but with out them I would not be able to care for myself or my children. I agree that the only reason we hear about autism being on the rise is because we are smarter about the problems and can diagnose them much earlier and accurately. I am thankful for the Dr's and medical research teams - I don't want to know what my life or my son's would be like without them!

Ok - I am off my soap box now!

Molly Hardison (Rutherford)

Ha! Ted is probably regretting his comment now. I love it!!

Long Live Prozac! Dammit.

Seriously, thank you Michelle and Janie for sharing your stories. I'm really glad you are both doing well now.

Hey, Im great... I just have a thing for drugs thats all - haha! Just kidding! ;)

Wendy Cubbison (Huybrechts)

Damn Brendhan! I told him to post about pickles again but he's MIA.

In the words of Rodney King - Can't we all just get along?

Seriously folks, this board is to reconnect and reminisce. Don't make me delete your posts! Mmwwahahaha! :)

Now, who wants a pickle?

05/15/08 03:48 PM #227

Bill Skaggs

Did someone say they have pickles? Are they fried? I like fried pickles.

05/15/08 05:05 PM #228

Brendhan Pelot (Pelot)

OMG, fried pickles are the bomb...but they have to be dill pickles, I can't stand bread and butter pickles. Who the hell invented sweet pickles?!? I wish they would put that dude/dudette on anti-depressants! I mean, seriously what the hell were they thinking?!?

Strangely enough, I prefer sweet relish to dill relish. Yea, I know, it makes absolutely NO sense. Maybe I should go on anti-depressants?

On a more serious note, I was a pallbearer at a a funeral today, and I come to this board for happy talk. Now be happy people or I'll regale you with tales of the effort it takes to contain your flatulence while carrying a coffin. It's not as easy as you think. I never should have had eggs for breakfast.

Here, Brendan, this should cheer you up:

http://motivationalimage.com/

That's NSFW (Not Safe For Work) in most places, so I won't spend the time surfing through it to find my favorite poster: "Oh, Look! cupcakes."

But you have fun with it :)

Which, for those of you interested, just confirms my lowbrow sense of humor. And my love for women.

Bread and Butter pickles have their place. Try fried bologna and American cheese, on white toast. Put mayo, mustard and some b&b pickles on it, and I guarantee it the best damn sammich you ever had. Other than a Pat's steak with Whiz.....

05/15/08 07:57 PM #231

Brendhan Pelot (Pelot)

Walter, thanks, that could cheer up a dead man (or the right woman)...ummm, err, probably not the best choice of words today, oh well, thanks nonetheless!

Bill, you like piss on your steak sandwiches? That's just nasty...almost as bad as bread and butter pickles on anything....

05/15/08 09:47 PM #232

Billie Kirk (Munday)

I wasnt sure there was anything worse than a bread and butter pickle, until I read about bread and butter pickles and fried bologna! Bill, you know I love ya, but damn...thats just wrong! Oh and Ill take a wiz wit to go! :-)

Who's not happy? As a professional, I could not let that comment sit there...without an EDUCATED response. But, I will behave now. I'm not mad at anybody. People disagree all the time...such is life. I didn't realize this message board was supposed to be like Sesame Street.

Chick Filet (sp?) puts pickles on the chicken sandwiches that they fry in peanut oil. Yummy!
