Yolanda and I went to see Power Station for our first concert at Merriweather Post Pavilion. Then I also attended a wide variety of concerts (a lot of 1 hit wonders) along the way with Jennifer Horne (we saw Howard Jones), Amy Bradley (we saw AH-HA and The Psychedelic Furs), Edie Brickell, B52's, etc...too many others to mention. I do rememebr working the March for Hunger Rally with Dawn and Tamra the first year out of LCHS. We had a great time in DC that weekend!

Ok Music - my oldest LOVES music and all kinds - when he was 3 he would walk to a person - put his hand by his eye and point at them while saying "Reespect, you talking to me" - his Dad was so pleased -- his little boy repeating Pantera.

This is going to sound funny but he is also in love with music from James Bond movies - currently it is "Goldfinger" and the one done by Duran Duran that has the lyrics "Dance in the fire". He also likes "Rock Lobster" by the B-52's.

I still listen to everything and have been to so many different concerts over the years - Rick Springfield, Duran Duran, MC Hammer, Huey Lewis and the News, Metallica, and even "chaporoned" my little brother to a few "Lolapoluza's"

True Tom, YNOT pretty much RULES (for those who don't know, that was my brother's band in the late 80's-mid 90's). You know it's crazy, but Dave Matthews and Hootie opened up for them at some point. Wild.

Funny story about Duran Duran. I saw them with my brother at Merriweather several years ago (our wives at the time went too, so it didn't look TOO gay--okay, maybe a little). Anyway, during the encore Simon Lebon came to our section, stood on top of a chair, and had my brother hold him up! As soon as he left, my brother about VOMITED from the nasty paculli (sp?) oil smell!!!

Oh and Brendhan, Phil told me to just give him a HJ. But you're right, that did perhaps TAINT my love for his music!

Also, the Lakers will have home court advantage if they end up playing the Celtics, and we all know how AWESOME a road team they've been this playoffs!

Brendhan Pelot (Pelot)

Au contraire, mon frère, the Celtics had 66 wins this year the Lakers a sad 57....it's going through Boston baby...:-)

Brendhan, you're right, you did freeze the Finnster up! Haven't heard from him. You know it's hard to believe but he is still SINGLE! Ladies?! Jeff Finn single....and easily found.

Excellent pictures Jumana! Who is that guy climbing out of the window... and how funny to get busted on camera. Beautiful family girlfriend!

Well, if the Lakers play like they did in the first half (based on highlights I saw this AM), they'll be lucky to get out of the Western Conference Finals! I forgot that the Celtics had the best record considering they've played like dog crap on the road!

Ashley--Eagles were AMAZING last night. Played for about 3 hours like you said. Joe Walsh, as he always does, stole the show. More than worth the price of admission, IMHO.

Lee...Jeff may be single, but are you sure he's ready to mingle?!?

Chris, I saw Joe Walsh (Actually it was a reunion tour of the James Gang, Joe's band before the Eagles) last summer...great show and he is one funny dude.

I found some pictures from all of Wallaces wedding. enjoy.

Ok, I have to comment on music, too. Chris, anyone who got within a foot radius of you remembers your infatuation with Phil Collins! Remember you and I would get in HEATED debates over who was better, him or David Bowie?

My oldest son was exposed to some '80s concerts in utero also. Depeche Mode, Siouxie and the Banshees and Echo and the Bunnymen. Now they prefer whatever is playing in Shannon's car, System of a Down, Psychonaut 75, and anything with bagpipes!

I am totally stuck in the 80's, still, though I have an appreciation for some modern music. And for some strange reason, I recently got into the Black Eyed Peas. Can't really explain that.

Molly, I heard the Cure the other day, and they always remind me of laying out in your backyard, listening to Standing on the Beach!

Brady, I can see why Wally likes to get married, he looks great in a tux. :)

What debate was there? It was Phil Collins/Genesis, and then the rest of those untalented musicians like Bowie, The Stones, etc. ;)

LOVED the pictures Brady. Absolutely had me cracking up, most especially the super hero one. Where the EFF was Batman??

He was BEHIND Robin of course....

Men all Pause

Our earlier discussions made me surf to this on a whim today. . . . and boy oh boy is that a celebration of 80's Hair and Fashion.

Just remembered a concert that Wallace and Joe Mullins dragged me to. Third Eye Blind...it was us and about 20,000 screaming 12 year old girls.

Jenny--I forgot about the Cure and the Smiths. Every now and then I hear the Smiths...that's music to kill yourself by...so depressing. But, I still like it.

I'm ashamed to admit it, but I listen to some country now. Saw Allen Jackson and Toby Keith. In general, country music concerts suck.

Almost forgot about Fleetwood Mac...THAT WAS AWESOME!
Went to a couple HFStivals in DC and the Grateful Dead, but was too intoxicated to remember.

Walt--that's it!! That's the song that Judy Kropp, Kim Lanham, Kim Moore, and Denise lip-synched (and shook their titties and asses) to and beat out Brendhan, etc. as Motley Crue.

Best concert I ever saw in person was Garth Brooks at Bull Run Park's Jamboree.

I was working maintenance there, and all of the maintenance guys got called up to provide extra security bodies for Garth's set (after the lesser acts had played)

We all stood in the front row, arms crossed, facing the crowd. I didn't even know who he was.

And goddamned if he didn't have me turned around halfway through the first song, hooting and hollering with everyone else. Great Show.

Remember Queen at Live Aid? It was that sort of crowd control and enthusiasm.

Joe Mullins

Ahh Third Eye Blind, Eve 6 and I think Our Lady Peace ... and I don't think we had to DRAG Molly in ...she went willingly and had a blast .. despite being 20 years older than everybody else at the concert!

Molly Hardison (Rutherford)

This is off topic, but my husband and I were talking about the reunion and realized that he was in the 5th grade when we were seniors in high school. That's pretty funny.

Joe--I only had fun at that concert b/c you and Wallace were there and b/c I drank like 10 beers. Third Eye Blind sucks!

Chris Wallace

I've got the same issue with my wife, Molly. Sometimes I'll bring out references of '80's music and shows, and she has NO clue what I'm talking about. She was born in '78, so I can see why!

Molly Hardison (Rutherford)

I know. Chris' favorite show in high school was 90210. He doesn't remember school house rock or land of the lost.

He actually makes fun of me a lot more than I make fun of him though. We went to the movies on one of our first dates, and he asked the cashier if there was a senior citizens discount.

Weren't you Conjunction Junction at a costume party once, Molly?
