Finally everyone is back from a fun Memorial Weekend. I went camping in West VA and had a blast. My brother Jamie and I played jail-break and hide-n-seek at night with all of our kids/nieces and nephews and it was soooo much fun.
We walked pretty much the complete Freedom Trail, which was pretty good for the kids, except that the Constitution is undergoing major renovations, so most things were off limits.
Then we had some folks over from work for a birthday party/canoe trip/Wii Fit/Rock Band sort of afternoon.
My falsetto rendition of Roxanne was the highlight of the afternoon, proving that I have no shame.
Played golf, went to the pool, did stuff around the house, got drunk with our neighbors....pretty fun, but chill weekend for the most part.
NBA Update: Lakers up 3-1; Celtics tied 2-2
Oh, and back to the age thing, Molly. It's funny, I think I keep my immaturity at a fairly high level still, so sometimes my wife says I keep HER young!
I was in NOVA for 10 days. I went fishing and did some visiting. I just flew back down here Monday. I've only been gone a few months, and I didn't realize how much I missed it up there. I din't want to come back.
Funny thing is, even though I have fine Scotch (Johnny Walker Blue) - no one even cracked a drink at our party.
Times they have a changed for me. It's cheaper these days, but I wouldn't have predicted it.
Now, when my daughter gets to be 13-14, I plan to have a full case of Natty Light in a cooler in the garage at all times. And have a spare case in the car at all times.
Get it heated up, properly good and skunked, shake it around, and then pretend I don't notice when it gets stolen.
I stand corrected, Brendhan. You do have great control. I distinctly remember you pushing me out of the way at the end of homeroom one day to get by me and rip one on Seekford (I think he was the victim). You timed it perfectly, nailed him and ran victoriously down the hall. And that's how I have always remembered you. That and dressed up in your Crue finery. Vince would have been so proud. :-)
Walt, my dad used to do that shit. He loved torturing me when I was hung over. He'd make enough noise to make me get out of bed and ask him what he was doing, then make me help. Even though it sounds bad, they are actually fond memories. He'd let me off the hook after laughing at me for a few minutes.
Exactly, Bill - it's all out of love - heh
So, I do love the 'Ipod like' radio stations these days, where they can play *any* good song from the last 40 years, not just whatever happens to be in the top 20.
On the way in this morning, heard this one:
Angela, I think you just brought a tear to my eye. I'm just beaming with joy because that left an impression on you. Clearly my time on earth has not been in vain. :-)
Walter, that video (and song) is great and PERFECT for this site....but those dudes in the Robert Palmer band....that is just WRONG.
And though I realize the Motley Crue getup in that video is accurate (1985 was the year of Theatre of Pain and the more glammy Motley Crue look), I prefer the earlier Too Fast For Love/Shout At The Devil look myself. Motley Crue started a slow descent with TOP that continues to this very day.... :(
That was PERFECT song for this group. Everytime I hear it on the radio I am thankfull that my guys are too little to laugh at me or tell me that I am uncool.
The link below is a classic Saturday Night Live skit with Tom Hanks and Jon Lovitz from 1988 where they attend their 10-year high school class reunion (ignore the ad that precedes the video):
Ummm...yeah, not so much Lee. But hey, nice try. Now go back and....play Playstation or whatever is that you do at the firehouse during boredom (btw, totally jealous that you can do stuff like that!).
