You know I cant watch basketball on tv, just not my thing. I did get into going to watch caps games when they would play the penguins. I really love live hockey games. But this past weekend I must say I totally enjoyed watching Tiger play and win the U.S. Open. I cant watch anyone else play golf except him. He really is incredible.

Well, congrats to Brendhan and Tom on the Celtics DESTROYING the Lakers last night. Like I said, after the first game I could tell the Celtics were the more physical team, and they deserved to win. They were the best team all year, so hopefully the Lakers can get some bigger bodies in the offseason (having Bynum back will help) and they can have a rematch next year.

But seriously, can the City of Boston win MORE professional championships???!! Patriots, Sox and Celtics....no pressure Bruins! It's DC's turn for some championships damnit!!

Wally thanks, Tom and I are working on getting your custom T-shirt made that says the Celtics are the Lords of the NBA. ;-)

Yeah, yeah, yeah....Enjoy your moment, but honestly, if the Lakers had won, I wouldn't have rubbed it in too bad. It was different in high school: Phil vs Motley Crue, Lakers vs Celtics, Magic vs Bird, MTV vs VH1....

Good call, Chris.

Lee Presgrave

Wally, I still have fond memories of your "Magic HIV" license plate. That was alright.

06/18/08 05:06 PM #490

Brendhan Pelot (Pelot)

"Oh no he didn't...."

That is a fine recollection you have there Mr. Presgrave. Wally was PISSED about that one. :-)

Remember when Magic tried to announce games and he was almost incoherent? Howard Stern used to make fun of him. Hilarious!

Howard was particularly funny during the OJ Simpson debacle too.

Anyone know what happened to Mike Gearhart? He graduated with us, didn't he?

My funny link of the morning: Just found this webcomic a few days ago and I've been laughing my ass off reading through it :)

06/19/08 02:53 PM #493

Brendhan Pelot (Pelot)

Molly, do you remember "The Magic Hour?" They were going to make Magic Johnson the next Arsenion Hall...except Magic made Arsenio Hall look like Johnny Carson....well, not literally look like, you know what I mean. :-) His show lasted 8 weeks. It was painful to watch. Magic could play some ball, but public speaking? Not so much...

06/20/08 12:49 PM #494

Molly Hardison (Rutherford)

I do remember that. It was very bad. I still can't believe Arsenio had a show for as long as he did. He was annoying.

On another topic, I think I'm going to have to buy a Prius. It cost $100 to fill up my Suburban the other day. I'm gonna keep the Suburban though...I love it and need it for the 300 pounds of doggies.

Are political discussions off limits? Where does everyone stand on the oil drilling? I think we should drill here, so we don't have to buy oil from people who want to kill us. And in the meantime work hard towards alternative fuel sources.

06/20/08 01:20 PM #495

Brady Chapman

Dont buy a prius just to save on gas. It will take 11.5 years to make up the savings. If you are just looking for gas savings, you're better off in something like a Jetta. But if you are trying to be ecofriendly, then go for it.

Drill everywhere, immediately. Even though it will take a few years to actually get the oil, the speculators will get out of the oil markets so we'll see some short term relief.

We also need more nuke plants, more refineries, wind, nano-solar, hydro. etc etc etc.

Oh, and stop pushing Ethanol. It's more expensive than oil, hard to reproduce and corn is already at 8 bucks a bushel (it was 2 dollars 5 years ago). And if Iowa didnt have the first Caucus every 4 years, we'd never have to listen to that folly.

Oh yeah, and we could probably use less energy as well. Higher efficiency standards in Detroit, low energy appliances, all help.

There is no single solution.

Brian Cross

"I'm Brady Chapman, and I approved this message."

I couldn't agree more with you about ethanol.

Wow, this board is all over the place.

Brady Chapman

I expect the campaign contributions to start rolling in soon.

06/20/08 01:42 PM #498

Molly Hardison (Rutherford)

Thanks Brady. I would like to be ecofriendly, but we mostly do highway driving, so I don't know if a hybrid is the right choice for us. Also, ironically, we need the Suburban to take all of our recycling to the county recycling center.

I'm sure gas prices will go down and everything will be wonderful once Bush is out of office since he is to blame for everything evil and unpleasant. :) (heavy sarcasm)

06/20/08 01:48 PM #499

Chevy has a Tahoe hybrid now.

Chrysler has a 100% electric car coming out next year (Volt).

But until someone can explain to me how to drive 3 kids around with all of the accompanying crap (strollers, sports bags, car seats, change of clothes, toys etc etc) in something other than a big SUV or Minivan, then Im just going to have to be one of those evil imperialist slimeballs destroying the planet.

I do recycle my A/C water for my garden though. So.....

Walter Yarbrough

Political discussions are typically best isolated in their own forum.

But we can try it.

For my part - I'm in a Blue blue blue state, so my vote doesn't matter :)

Brady's hit the nail on the head. Personally, as a tax and spend Democrat, I've said before that I'd like higher gas taxes - with the revenue dumped into alternative energy.

I also like Hawaii as an ethanol/biomass testbed.

True, true. Our parents could manage b/c they didn't have to strap us in. I remember driving to Florida in the 70s with my parents, 2 brothers, and my brother's friend...in a Pontiac Grand Prix. I spent a lot of time on the floorboard during that trip. Too funny.

In a few years, the government will probably tell us we are not allowed to have more than 2 kids...it's too hard on the environment.

06/20/08 01:56 PM #502

Brady Chapman

Well Im in a blue blue blue HAIR state, so we're lucky if they can even figure out HOW to vote.

06/20/08 02:10 PM #503

Molly Hardison (Rutherford)

Personally, I think both parties suck.

I'm going to vote for Brady.

06/20/08 03:15 PM #504

Walter Yarbrough

Brendhan and I had a long discussion about how both parties suck on Wallace's front porch one night. We ended it up firmly vowing that the country needed a change.

This was well before Ross Perot fucked up the chance to create a viable 3rd party.

But I totally agree with ya, Molly.

06/20/08 06:26 PM #505

Chris Colson

wow, like Brian said, "this board is everywhere!" I'm voting for Brady too. Molly, I've got a jetta tdi and I'd highly recommend it. It's an 06 and the motor is rated for 300,000. I've got almost 60,000 and the mpg keep getting better. I get 51 mpg even w/ my lead foot. It can handle me and the four boys w/ a load of crap in the trunk. I've got one friend who chipped his and gets 70 and another who's converted to running on vegetable oil and averages paying .90 a gallon and his fuel mileage only dropped about 4 mpg and the conversion kit paid for itself in 9 months. Of course, like Brady I've got the f250 crewcab which you can load down w/ wverthing up to the kitchen sink and mom and dad and friends are always calling and using ...maybe there should be a community SUV or something that everyone takes days sharing. I wish someone would share the paying part. You all have a good weekend.

06/20/08 06:28 PM #506

Chris Colson

Brady, how do you do the a/c water recycling? just catch it via gravity and use it on a small scale?

06/21/08 03:20 PM #507

Brady Chapman

I have a 40 gallon cistern that I ran the a/c lines into. Then a small pump that forces the water through a hose and into the garden with drip lines. I also have it set so my gutters drain into it. BUt the A/C alone gives me about 20-25 gallons of water a day.

Nothing like homegroan tomatoes and peppers.

06/23/08 09:33 AM #508

Molly Hardison (Rutherford)

Thank you Chris. I am seriously considering the Jetta. My husband wants a diesel Passat, though. I got to pick out the last car (a Camry), so I guess it's his turn.
