Nah. Partlows wouldnt sell it to us. You had to go to the Pink store across from the road to your house Walt, or to Hilltop in Hillsboro.

B & W, wouln't Wallace's sister help you all out? i had a slightly older friend from my Safeway days who got me whatever i needed

Walt I remember both those Partlows, just couldn't place the name.

Brady, you should have gone to Churchs on Watson Road (the road across 704 from the Dump) it was closer than both those. :-)

Brady - the "Pink" store? You are so PC these days...

What do you guys think of the VPILF pick?

Most of you are still Va. residents, so your vote actually matters.

08/29/08 02:53 PM #1064

Brady Chapman

Certainly will make things interesting.

Smells of desperation imo. But sometimes desperation wins.

Spoken like a true Redskins fan, Brady.

I'm glad that this election will at least be interesting and historic. And regardless which of the 2 candidates wins, I won't have to be embarrassed any more. To put it mildly, I'm not a big fan of "W" (hope that won't trigger an IRS audit).

Jim, have a fun trip. What are your plans while there?

Chris- While in Inia, do volunteer work in Dhramsala, which is in the foothills of the Himalayas. I will be contributing to a local magazine as a writer, and tutoring Tibeten refugees in English. And I will travel and see the country. It is something I need to do. My spirit is saying I gotta go. Once I get to South Korea, I will have a paid job teaching English to school children. I seek new adventure, and this is what I've found.

You should start a blog when you teach.

Walter, lol on VPILF and I agree. Brian I'm with you, regardless who wins it will be better than the joke that's been in there for 8 years.

On another note....we went to the DragonCon parade today...

http://www.dragoncon.org/

It was a blast...Bella decided to go with her batgirl costume...pics in my profile.

I just witnessed a disaster of a football game. Va Tech looked like they didn't know how to play football. It is pretty embarising when you are sitting in the stands with thousands of fellow hokies and there are two ecu fans sitting 2 rows behind me making all the noise at the end. I guess Kurt is pretty happy though.

The really sad thing about dragon con and other cons is that I look through the costume pictures for people I recognize, like that girl, who used to be our marketing director, or this one - wife of one of the designers.

Anyways, I'm glad I really don't have time to follow college ball these days, and instead spend my time and emotional energy on the Skins

Wait, what?

I was surprised, there were quite a few scantily clad hotties in the parade....we are definitely going back next year! :-)

Hey Chris - I'm still here. Took Thurs and Fri off to have a nice last, long, summer weekend. Swim, get some sun, etc. Instead ended up with two rainy days watching movies. Then went on call last night at midnight and got called out, literally, at five minutes after midnight. Oh well.

Hey Jim. Do you need anyone to house sit for you in Hawaii while you're gone?!!

Glad to see the traffic topic sparked some comment. I'll see what else I can think of. Hope everybody is having a good labor day weekend.

Amy - Maybe you could write about some of the strange/funny calls you get and the strange/funny things you've been required to do in your line of work. :)

Amy Harper

Well, Wendy, it may not be very cop-like, but probably the funniest thing I've done is chase a pig down Rt 659, full uniform. (He got away.) Or there's the time I caught the grass on fire with a flare and a state trooper had to help me put it out! (In my defense, I was a rookie and there was a drought.)

Oh...you probably meant the stupid stuff the criminals have done!!

Doesn't this make you guys feel safe and protected?!!

amy, i'm glad it's not just me. it seems like my biggest headaches and craziest stories come from something i've done and probably should've known better, like my fuel issue this morning! glad your back

In response to Walter's VPILF comment... I think Bill Maher summed it up well with "This isn't a presidential ticket, this is a sitcom."

Ah man - Jerry Reed died . . . /pour one out for ya, brother:

Back onto Sarah Palin for a minute - just looked at the photoshops of her . . . and realized - she's got a very symmetrical face, just like Gillian Anderson - she'll be easy to photoshop.

Hello All... went to Jimmy Buffett concert on Monday at Nissan and WOW... what an incredible concert! How was everyone else's Labor Day?

09/03/08 09:28 AM #1079

Brady Chapman

Bill Maher was going to say that regardless of who was picked.

He's part of the extremes on both sides that are poisoning the well.

An interesting analysis of Palin from someone arguing for her: "I'm curious if anyone really thinks there are undecideds out there who suddenly are migrating to the GOP ticket because of Palin? This was about energizing the conservative base, which has long regarded McCain with something that can only charitably be called suspicion. On that front, it's succeeded beyond his wildest dreams. $7 million in one night? The NRA and Donald Wildmon dancing on the convention floor? Who would have ever thought a ticket with "McCain" on top would inspire that? Of COURSE democrats don't like her. She wasn't chosen for you." I wouldn't argue that Bill Maher is poisoning the well, though - I think those who watch him tend to agree with him - the "How could Nixon have won? I don't know anyone who voted for him." crowd.

A couple of good quotes.

"Barack Obama is not ready. Barack Obama's never run a city, never run a state, never run an agency, never run a business, never made a payroll, has never really negotiated," Giuliani said.

Thompson said Palin has the experience needed in Washington, calling her "a woman who has actually governed rather than just talked a good game on the Sunday talk shows and hit the Washington cocktail circuit."

09/03/08 02:25 PM #1082

Brady Chapman

Great points Walt.

She also has the ability to attract that sliver of the population that was voting for Hillary ONLY because she was a woman. It's small, but as we've seen recently, it doesnt take much to swing a state.

The Hillary voters that agreed with her on issues arent changing to McCain because of Palin, but it's a mistake to assume that there arent people who were only in it for "girl power!"
