Family Reunion Sites? Posted Tuesday, April 7, 2009 02:37 PM Guys, do any of you have a very favorite place that you like to gather with your extended family for a vacation? Besides your home, I mean. Beach? Mountains? National Park? Diane |

RE: Family Reunion Sites? Posted Tuesday, April 7, 2009 06:50 PM I was impressed with the place Sherron and I just visited. They have cabins large enough to accommodate about any size family. The Preserve Resort (http://www.thepreserveresort.com/) is located about 10 miles outside Pigeon Forge so it is convenient to all of the local activities. If your family is like ours (I'll pray for you) Papa and Grandma babysit in the evenings so our kids can go on a date. There's lots of family things to do in the area. We observed several families staying at the resort this weekend for weddings. There are several of these "cabin resorts" in the area, some much better than others. The Preserve appeared to be above average. Unknown to us, our youngest daughter stayed at the same resort about two years ago and also loved it. If you haven't been to Dollywood, I would recommend it as a great family thing to do. Pigeon Forge has something for everyone. The down side to all this is everyone else must like Pigeon Forge too. Expect to be in heavy traffic and long lines at most restaurants. I personally love Gatlinburg (not so much for little ones to do) but it is very crowded too. Having said all that, if I may quote that great philosopher Dorothy, "There's no place like home." |
