I didn't know Ronald well, but I recall his cheerfulness. Everytime I saw him, he was smiling or laughing. That's a good way to be remembered. I'm sorry he passed so early.Donald Chandler
Ron and I grew up with two very different personalities to go along with our very different physical appearances. People found it hard to believe we were brothers, let alone twins. When we were in school at Athens High, Ron was nicknamed “littl’un” and I was called “big’un”. Thank goodness we lost those tags when we transferred to OCHS our junior year. We had our occasional fights but grew closer as the years passed by. We both loved to watch and talk Georgia Bulldog Football. And I could make him laugh so hard that I would laugh at his laugh. I miss all of that. Ron died of lung cancer in 1989. Even now, I will hear a really funny joke or story that I know Ron would enjoy and wish that he was still here so I could make him laugh one more time. A smile will cross my lips and tears come to my eyes. To this very day, almost twenty years after his death, he is regularly in my dreams, much more than anyone else. I wish he could have been here to see his two beautiful granddaughters. He was never a great student, but he was a great brother! I loved him a lot and still miss him. May God bless his memory.
