Man! I'm going to have to quit taking a leave of absence from this message board! Looks like too much goes on when you're not looking. I was really hoping to see that everyone had a wonderful Easter with renewed faith in the resurrection of Jesus Christ which blossoms into a profound realization of our worth. Wishing all good health.
Peace be with you all,

Katie

Well a quick HELLO to everyone before I get ready to head off to work -- YUCK -- Friday nights in the ER are NOT fun !!!!

I am back in school LOL YES I said back in school -- this time I am getting my Certification for Medical Billing and Coding (which I have done in the past but not certified) so I can start my own business.  There is a great demand for that today.

Happy Birthday to everyone I missed and the ones coming up.  I hope this note finds you all happy and healthy.

I have more bad news.  On Sunday, May 2, Danny Daniel passed away.  Apparantly, he had a heart attack.  I will send out more information when it becomes available.

See what I mean! Anytime I take a leave of absence, when I get back there is more bad news.

Well, I just walked the Survivor's Walk at the Relay for Life Cancer Walk Friday night with my mother. I didn't see any of my classmates there. Only Ralph Maxwell.

However, I did see Edd Lowe the next morning at Paul's BBQ!

Much love,

Katie

One more update. I went to Danny's wake with Daddy and Carol. Charlotte was there of course, very forlorn and sad. Danny was about her only relative left. She and Carol were the best of friends in high school, so she was very glad to see Carol. I saw Joe Gorman, Wesley Jenkins, Kirk Thomas, Scott Maxwell, Mary and Wayne Brubaker, Deborah (Coile)Weir, and some older Oglethorpe people. I know Edd and Edie were probably there - didn't see Bob Cunningham, but I'm sure he was there.  So very sad.

Katie, sorry I did not see you at the Oglethorpe County Relay for Life.  I was at the Relay Committee Station all night long and found out later that you had walked.  It was a beautiful and very meaningful relay.  So good to see so many Oglethorpe County people who were recognized.  I made over 353 luminary bags, so that tells you how many people who had candles burning in their memory or honor.  What an awesome night.

Rita, sorry I did not see you at Danny Daniel's service.  We sat behind Joe Gorman, Kirk Thomas, and Scott Maxwell.  We went back to the receiving line to speak to Cindy, Clark, and Laney.  It was a sad time to see everyone, but good to see people we had not seen since high school.

Greetings, everybody.  Happy Mother's Day to all of you, even some of you Dads.  I know we all cross over rolls many times when one can't be at home, or for other reasons.  I'm wishing you sweet moments with your children, and a huge show of appreciation to each of you from your kids, as well as priceless memories of those who have already left us.   What an honor to be a Mom.

Hello to everyone! I hope the summer heat has not gotten you down.  Our message forum looks different to me this morning.   I can read it better with my old eyes!  We are staying busy with the grandkids, Bible School and everyday doings.  I hope everyone is doing  alright. Let's stay in contact with each other.   Hope everyone has a nice and safe July 4!!!!!

Diane, that sounds great.  I talked to Warren at church on Sunday and he said that was fine with them.  We can get together somewhere at a resturant and anyone that can, can meet us.  We will decide closer to time.  I  just have to share this with everyone.  I had a "Grandmother Proud Time" on Sunday.  My four granddaughters sang "Daddy's Hand"  for the morning worship.  I tried to hold back the proud tears!!  Their Poppa said it was the best Father's Day gift he could have gotten.  Enough of that :)  Happy Summer

Diane we look forward to getting together when you are in town. Peggy your granddaughters were great sunday. Carlie was ready to sing and was so cute when she saw the others with a mic and she wanted one to. This weather is great. I love the summer.

Hey guys,

Mitchell, Bobby, Ralph, Tim and I had dinner last Wednesday night at Porterhouse Grill.  A little pricey, but we had a wonderful time.  We are going to try to get together again towards the end of next month, probably at the Legion.  I will let ya'll know when we do it so you can join us if you feel so inclined.  After losing several friends in the last year, we all feel the need to see more of each other.

I have really enjoyed reading your posts to this message forum.  Ya'll keep it up.

Edd

Hello ALL

Happy Birthday to all of you that I missed and to those that are coming up.  I just read over the posts that I have missed and yes we have lost a lot of classmates and family members over the past year.

I will be working doubles over the weekend (July 4th) so yall stay safe and have fun. We are keeping an eye on Hurricane Alex.  Just pray that it doesn't turn more North than it is or it will be almost in my backdoor and put us on the "dirty side".  As is, we will get some wind and rain from it.  Tis the season - til Nov. 30.

I am going to try and come home this year for Christmas.  Mother is losing her eye sight and I don't know how much longer she will be able to see at all.  Please keep her in your prayers.

I am still looking for another job.  Hopefully something new will come about before Fall - so I pray.

I need to get ready for work now -- Have a safe and fun 4th of July and I will come back here soon.

Janet

I hope that everybody has a safe and happy 4th of July weekend.  The weather is going to be beautiful.  I am going to hang around the house, maybe go down to Goosepond Saturday, play with my 6 year old at the pool, and then sit out on the golf course Sunday night and watch fireworks.  And the History Channel will have all of these great shows on the founding of our country running all weekend.  Sounds like a great time to me.

Diane,

I hope to see you next Friday.  It is really nice of Tim and Julie to open their house.

And for anyone that might be interested.  Mitchell, Ralph, Tim, Bobby, Hawk, Coach Leon, Chuck Brooks and yours truly will dine at the American Legion in Lexington next Thursday.  July 22.  If anyone would like a good steak with good company, come on down there between 6:30 and 7:00.  Great ambience too.

I have renewed this website for another 5 years.  This will get us through our next reunion.

Edd

Edd--Something tells me the ambiance probably hasn't changed much since the last time I was there 15 years ago!!  The steaks were good good back then too!

Dianne and all--I am so sorry I won't be able to make it on the 30th.  I hope that one of these days I can make a get together with everyone.

Health update--I saw the neurosurgeon last week for six month checkup.  I am on target for progress, great news!  He indicated I have another year of healing for the vertebrae bone fusion to fully take and then that  will be as good as I will get.  I just feel so fortunate I can walk!!!  I still have to be careful with things and watch my balance, but I can walk!

May everyone have fun on the 30th and a great rest of summer!

Janet

Janet,

Believe me, the Legion has not changed since you were there 15 years ago.  Only the people there.  It seems like most all of the old regulars have died.  The WWII generation has mostly passed on.

We dined there last night.  Tim, Ralph, Mitchell, Bobby, Chuck Brooks, Robbie Brooks, Leon Dalton and myself had a fine dinner.

I am glad you had a good report from the doctor.  I guess we are getting to the age where we become very familiar with our doctors.  I am just happy to be here.

Edd
