Christina Haltom (Farrar)

I was told today of the sad news of Cathy's passing. My sincere and heartfelt condolences to Randy and his family. We sat across from Randy and Cathy at the reunion at dinner and you would have never known she was ill.

Also, and I hope I am not passing on information that I shouldn't be, it is rumored that Randy and Ronda's mom had a heart attack last night also. Does anyone know about this??

Can anyone comment on this?

I probably jumped the gun on reporting on Ann Eubank. Lori sent me a private E-mail and she has heard a different story, but Ann is not well evidently. We will wait for more word. Prayers for the Eubank family are in order obviously.

Hey all - I got an E-mail from Ronda this morning telling me about Cathy. Ronda told me her and Randy's mother is in intensive care with pneumonia and is having "complications" with her heart. She did not say heart attack. Ronda said prayers are appreciated. First thing I thought of when I woke up this morning - Randy and Ronda and family. When our classmates hurt, we all hurt. :(

There were several of the classmates who went to the visitation for Cathy Eubank Sunday afternoon, and Randy and his children seemed to be doing very well under the circumstances. Randy's son Mark plays football with our son Tyler. I have to say it was one of the most comforting visitations I have ever attended. They played a video that Cathy had recorded for the American Cancer Society about a year ago where she talked openly about how her tumor was discovered and how she felt she had been given a precious gift knowing that her time was near. When she was first diagnosed she was given two months and the video was made about six months after she was diagnosed. It was amazing and what a meaningful memory for the family to have of Cathy.

We need to remember all of the Eubank family in our thoughts and prayers with Randy and Ronda's mother being ill too. It's a difficult time for all of them.

Thanks for the excellent update, Becky.

This is what makes having this website worth every penny spent.

Thanks to everyone involved.

Thanks Becky. Cathy sounds like she was an amazing and strong woman.

You are both welcome. I know I don't get the opportunity to log on very much but I just wish more classmates would take advantage of getting on the website. I just feel like it makes us all feel closer even though there are miles between us.

Christi, sorry I didn't respond sooner but I just read back through the prior posts and saw your comments about our trip to Yellowstone. It was a fun trip - had great weather. I think I'd trade Yellowstone for Viet Nam too knowing that a new daugther was waiting! How are things with Emma??

Hey Lori thanks for helping us clean up. Strange but fun reception.

Lori Godlove (Goering)

What was so strange about it, other than me offering to help clean up. We had a good time, and it was fun visiting with you and Pam. I always love seeing the Bregar family.

Hey, Curt what is your personal opionion if North Korea launches this rocket?

04/01/09 08:38 PM #645

Curt Bregar

If they launch it which they most likely will Obama will bend over and refer things to the UN. It will set crap up just like Clinton did for making us look like a bunch of liberal wimps.

I could be wrong ...sure hope I am.

Becky - things are great with Emma, except she has been slow to gain weight - she is not losing, just not gaining much. She eats small amounts and is picky! SOOO unlike her mother. Ha. Anyway...we are going to supplement her diet with Duocal and hopefully that will help. She is very healthy per the pediatrician and her blood work was totally fine and her heart is strong and healthy. She is just a little sprite.

Since I turn 50 this year I would like to go somewhere special to celebrate but unless we sell our house and move, we aren't going anywhere because of lack of funds. However, the Tetons may be doable as we wouldn't need plane tickets. Would still love to go there. Glad you had great weather and a good time.

Thanks for asking about Emma. :)

As for the missile - what??!! You know India and Pakistan could be at war and I would never know - I am so busy with Emma and hardly ever get to watch TV. I do watch the NBC Nightly News but somehow missed the talk of a possible missile launch by N. Korea. I also watch Hoda and Kathie Lee in the mornings, but they haven't talked about any missiles of late. Hehe.

Christi you are not turning 50 this year! No one in our class is. So just sit back and relax.

04/02/09 09:10 PM #648

Christina Haltom (Farrar)

Oh yes I am turning 50 and really what is the alternative. However, haven't you heard, 50 is the new 30, so really we will all be 30. As I was just saying to someone on E-mail (different subject but it works for most anything), I have come to realize that fantasy is much better than reality. In my mind's eye, I will be 30. Then I will be even more shocked (and mad as an "old" wet hen) when every now and then someone will ask me if I am Emma's grandmother (about 3x of that question so far). Is like a punch in the stomach, but I am getting more used to it. 50!!! Wow!! How in the world did we get here?! Where have the years gone?

Ok, I like the new 30 idea. Tired of this snow! Ick. Glad it is melting quickly.

Ok, what does everyone think about seeing if we can get the Legion hall for an evening- it is pretty reasonable in price (I think $50) people who want to attend, bring a snack and of course your own beverages. And who wants to participate in the parade? Becky and Kevin still have the sign. All we need to do is find a truck (Mike??) and a trailer (I think I may be able to get that). What are your thoughts? Think SUMMER! Oh and grab a bag of candy! I think Milo loved us.

04/05/09 11:32 PM #651

Danny Beck

I am all for your ideas, Lori. I'll bring a ton of candy and I'll even sport the leisure suit again. Is there away we can challenge other classes to a little float competition?

04/06/09 08:50 AM #652

Becky Lundberg (King)

Hi, all! Yes, we still have the sign. I see Bret Lawler sent a message about a get-together so we'll need to bring him into the loop!! I agee that I think the kids loved us and our candy throwing!! Lori, how soon will we know what the theme is? As far as challenging other classes, I think my step-mother still writes the "Milo News" for the Record Herald so I could ask her to include a challenge in the Milo News. It's one way to get the word out that won't cost us anything.

I did hear about North Korea launching the rocket but, of course, the big news around here in Iowa is the Supreme Court ruling on gay marriage!! Iowa - we gotta love it!

PLAY BALL!!!! OPENING DAY FOR THE BASEBALL SEASON!!!!

It is my favorite holiday of the year. My daughter, Sara and I just returned from the Twins Breakfast on the Dome Plaza. I have photos on my website at: http://cardinal45.com/2009baseballopener.html

Now we are off to scope out our tailgating spot.

PLAY BALL!!!!

04/06/09 12:04 PM #654

Lori Godlove (Goering)

Yea, I as so proud to be an Iowan.

Probably won't know for a month about the theme for the parade. So what are your thoughts on the Legion Hall?

Yes Danny, play Ball!

04/06/09 01:52 PM #655

Carla Hunerdosse (Ball)

Dan, You lucky man! I've got my Red Bird sweatshirt on today!!!

Rick Chambers

I just checked with the secretary here at the Milo bldg who is on the 4th of July committee and they don't have a theme yet. I can post it on here as soon as she tells me if you want. How about putting your float challenge on the SEW alumni website and maybe the Milo newsletter which the secretary here also types up. Let me know what you want me to do if anything.
Dianne

Becky Lundberg (King)

That sounds like a great idea, Dianne. I e-mailed Carolyn about the Milo News but I sort of have this "fuzzy" memory that she told me that the paper was doing away with the local news columns so that actually may not be an option. I think your ideas are more of a sure thing.

What kind of a get-together would we like to have and what time of day are you thinking? Are we planning to do it on the 4th or should we plan something for the Friday night before since the 4th is on Saturday this year?

04/06/09 08:32 PM #658

Christina Haltom (Farrar)

Dan - saw the great photos on your web site - I am wondering - how can Sara be so darned pretty and still look like you??? hehehe

Enjoy the season. Baseball is one of the joys of life - that is for sure. Nothing better than sitting in the stands and eating a dog and drinking a beer listening to the crack of the bat and roar of the crowd. It's the best.

Hey, wanna place any bets this year???? :)
