Denise Hebert (Morin)

Ok, the party is over and now Denise Hebert Morin has officially posted her first response on the forum! Better late than never!

I must say that seeing all of you, and the joy on your faces, at the reunion Saturday night, is the reason I do what I do! No matter how much work it took, it was well worth seeing my classmates enjoy themselves with such enthusiasm!

To answer Glenn's question, yes, I enjoyed myself! I never gave and received so many hugs in one night! I toasted a few with some good friends, and got down on the dance floor towards the end of the evening!

Planning the reunion with the committee was a joy. I got to laugh with Catherine, Brenda, Maureen, Connie, Susan, Cheryl, Jan and Anne every month for 10 months! Maureen Raiche Manning came in at the last hour to help us wrap it up!

I have to thank my daughter Katlyn for her generous support of our theme by designing the invitation and other graphics. She was definitely a trooper with that class photo shoot! I am very proud of her!

I wish I could have spent more time with all of you, but I'm sure we'll keep in touch either thru this website or some other way.

Do we really have to wait for a 40th? Why not a 35th? Oh, and by the way, I think I've got the theme for the next reunion down already...look in your yearbook....do you remember our song from Styx..."Come Sail Away"...well
why don't we "sail away" on a cruise for our next reunion? Think about it! ;)

Thank you all for the wonderful "kudos" and for your company!

Denise

Dear friends,

What a great evening. It was so fun to remember both the good times and to get big laughs from memories of teenage angst (Oh Chuck, you are such a good sport!). In reality, I have forgotten the angst. I barely remember what I ate for breakfast this morning. But I DO remember great times at MMHS, Southside and Green Acres. Extra special hugs to Rob, Karen, Catherine, Brenda, Dave, Mary, Myles, Howie, Paul D, Kevin and Cathy O. Having a chance to catch up with you all was very special.

I wish there had been a little more time to also meet folks I didn't know in high school. At the next reunion I hope to arrive earlier and leave later.

Wishing you all the best. BTW - you all look fabulous!

Brenda Cayer (Borchers)

Scott - you can't dis a spouse that doesn't exist...lol!

Denise - you are amazing! Thank you for your vision and hard work! I'm ready to sail away and a 35th is definitely in order!

Catherine - your leadership makes it all come together. You are the best (you do all know my baby is named after this lady, right?!?).

The rest of the committee - The drive to every meeting was worth it just to see you guys. I love you all.

Class of 1979 - It's all been said, but one person said something about connecting with people who weren't necessarily their friends in high school. That's how I felt. It was just so great to see EVERYONE. And I have to say it "Jewett rules!" I loved seeing my old grammar school buddies. I think we had the best turnout - anyone beg to differ?

Well Brenda, I might have to say that for a small school like Bakersville, we were pretty well represented at the reunion too. We missed you Pellerin, Searles and Ziakas.

My phone has been ringing off the wall this past weekend with fabulous stories about the reunion. The committee worked extremely hard and the only thing I think we could have done differently was made it a "slumber party." Right Anne?

We closed the Derryfield and I actually didn't want to go home. Once I got home, I couldn't fall asleep. I kept reliving the night's events. What a fantastic night. My family is sick of hearing me talk about it. Can't wait to meet with the committee at my house on November 5th to begin planning our next gathering. Any suggestions.

I had a fabulous time!! I agree with some who say why wait for a 40th, let's go for a 35th! I so regret leaving early but Vinny told me if I thought it was 10:50 (my watch was broken) when it was only 8:30 it was probably a good thing that I left when I did! Just can't drink the way I could in the past.... such a shame or perhaps a blessing! Bummin' I missed Dave M and his "ride 'em cowboy" pick-up and I never got to wear John O'Shaugnessy's name tag!! To Cathy (or Kate) Shack, Cathy O'B, Nancy P (you crazy woman) and Wendy..... sorry I "japped" on ya! To the wonderful man who told me something personal while I was eating dinner, you know who you are, please shoot me and email, I have something to say to you :) Class of '79 we still know how to have a good time! What a great turnout with a great bunch of Memorialites! Thanks to the committe for putting on an awesome 30th!! All the best to all of you..... until we meet again.... be well!

Dear Ms. Colette Hebert Lucas,

Oh yeah, I'm a real good sport. Do you have any idea how much my therapist charges for a Sunday session? Thanks to you and Ms. Dobrowski McGrath (Hernandez?), it'll probably be very nice Christmas for the family of Dr. Whatshisname. I may be OK by our 40th. Oh, wait, Shaw's is having a sale on Bud Light Lime! I'll be good by the weekend. See ya

Anne, Brenda, Cathy, and Collette... I cant tell how much of a great time we had at the reunion. The facility, food, DJ and most of all seeing everyone was over the top. I appreciate all of your time and efforts as well as those others behind the scenes that made this happen. Hope we can keep the website!

Back home in LA still basking in a good time. Sorry I missed some folks. I wanted to talk to as many as possible and time got away!

Karen Dobrowski (Hernandez)

Just finished up Steve's charity golf tournament (I'm freezing!) and I finally had a chance to catch up with these posts! I can't even express how much fun I've had in the months approaching the reunion, this weekend and the reunion itself. It has been amazing. So many people have become so close in such a short time.

To the reunion committee: I owe you more than I can ever express or repay. This website put me on the path to a future I never expected. I'll love you all forever for that.

To all the good friends that I lost track of over the years: Forgive me. It will NOT happen again. Keep in touch.

To all the people I may not have know well in school, but have connected with now: So happy to have spent time with you all! Keep in touch and I promise I will too.

To the most important person in my life: thank you for being you and finding me.

Looking forward to seeing you all again. You know where to find me!!

Ellen Paquette (Boudreau)

My boss went to her 35th reunion on Saturday night. This morning we compared notes. By the time we were done, she was begging if she could come to our next reunion instead! :) I felt like I was a kid again.

I'd be happy to see a 35th for our class.

XOXOXO
Ellen

I agree 10 years is too far away. I would have to say by most of the responses, seems like most people agree.

My wife and I would like to send a special thank you to Karen,Steve,Carol,Michelle,Donna,Lisa Scott,Brian,Lynn and all the other people who made my wife feel as though she was part of the reunion too.

Collette and Mary it was so nice to see and talk with you again.

I vote for a 31st reunion. What a classy group we turned out to be. How did that ever happen?

Kevin,

I am so happy you had a great time. I am not sure we could put together another party that quick. How about our 32th? Ha Ha.

Hard to believe huh Kevin?....lol

Due to some personal stuff I haven't been able to post to now....so here goes..

Laura and Casey....what can I say??....Had the best time I've had in years Friday night at the Apollo....food....company....just amazing...smile.....be sure when you read this that you give your staff a huge KUDOS from me for the excellent work that night.....(I was reprimanded by my son because I didn't do it myself that night...sigh)

Evelyn....thanks so much for the ride down...wouldn't have been able to have such a wondcrful time without it....not to mention the wonderful company of you and Leah along the ride....

The reunion was a blast....so much better than I'm sure any of us expected it to be.....thanks so much to the committee for gathering us all together.....I couldn't believe how many knew me that I was sure never noticed me in highschool.....absolutely wonderful....

whenever you decide on the next reunion...31 or 35 or 40.......I'll be there...no doubt about it....

Glenn Lianos

Anne...32 would be good we'll be 50 and a great way to have a massive celebration!

Brenda...I agree I saw a lot of faces from Jewett St Elementary...I was trying to name them all and I couldn't

I think the forum helped as well. It was a great ice breaker...

Evelyn Gratton (Pepin)

My laptop is back up and running (I've missed it this past week!) so I'm pleased to be posting more swiftly once again! Yay! (Had to use my slow-n-pokey desktop a few times. Booo!) Okay, personal moment over.

I echo everyone's praises for a great time Saturday and to the Committee for a job well done! I really hated to see the night come to an end.

Brenda & Jan, I think Green Acres was very well represented, too. In fact, I think I recognized my Green Acres classmates quicker and most often without checking their nametags. It was just as much a grammar school reunion for me as a high school one as I was able to reconnect with folks I went to Kindergarten thru 6th grade with but lost track of in Jr and/or High School.

And didn't we all, each and every one of us, look fabulous!?!? I thought we cleaned up pretty good! ;-)

I vote for a 35th, too. Liking the "Come Sail Away" theme! And in the meantime, I think this website will be instrumental in keeping many of us together and welcoming more as we find some of our "missing" friends! Kevin Farley put it well when he said to me, "We got a good thing goin' here!"

And lastly, I'd just like to acknowledge Brenda Howard (Mrs Robert Howard), Ginny Lamere (Mrs Marc Lamere), Tim Scoggins (Mr Missy Turner), Casey Douglass (Mr Laura Kohut), Cathy Cavanaugh's Paul (I'm so sorry, Paul! If I was told your last name - and I think I was - I didn't retain it. I tell ya, the fluff inside my head was tossed like a salad all weekend as 30+yr old memories came flooding to the surface!), and all of the other intrepid spouses, partners, and significant others who shared in our celebration. I officially pronounce you all Honorary '79ers!

Mid October back in 2009
What a very special time for me

Bill Burke,

You were missed. How are you. Everyone asked for you. Is there anything we can do for you?

OK, I've read about the representation of Jewett St and Green Acres schools. There were an awful lot of alumni from St. Anthony and St. Joseph's schools. And being a good Catholic boy, I'd like to question the appropriateness of some of the material posted on the site. While cruising through the pics kindly posted by Bob Howard, I couldn't help noticed the one of Mr. Hernandez copping a feel on Ms. Dobrowski McGrath. She looked plenty lively to me. No need to check for a heartbeat! There are many other websites suited to graphic material like this. Let me know if you'd like a list.

10/12/09 10:25 PM #1362

Glenn Lianos

meanwhile...the Good Catholic boy may have hit the communion wine...Did your friend ever come back and sit with you at the Derryfield?

and Carol...you must have come to the wrong reunion...you stopped the clock!

Evelyn...I also vote for the unsung spouses that stayed home with the younguns like yours, mine, Diane's etc...so we could enjoy a night or two out

10/12/09 11:15 PM #1363

Robert Ferendo

Chuck...Somehow I believe that Steve could locate those other websites on his own should the need arise!

Have a few pics going up on the profile tonite if interested.

Yes, Glenn! Here! Here!

A special thanks to the committe for putting together a wonderful event. It was clearly evident they put a tremendous effort pulling it all together.

As we get older, I would like to suggest we don't wait ten years to do it again and I will be the first to volunteer to assist.

10/13/09 12:24 AM #1366

Joseph Senecal

The night was perfect. Good food, good company, a million laughs. To all envolved, my hat is off to you.
The next get together for the locals and semi locals, should be soon and often!
We always had a class that knew how to have fun. I think we proved it again!!!
