Evelyn Gratton (Pepin)

Why, thank you, Melissa! Not everyone can be a goof, but it does come naturally to me! It is a gift. ;-D

And I agree, the original trilogy rules. However, the prequels have grown on me a little. I didn't enjoy them the first time 'round, especially the 2nd when Anakin is a surly, moody, self-centered teenager. At the time that movie came out, we were living with a surly, moody, self-centered teenager of our own, so for most of the movie, I just wanted to smack Anakin... repeatedly. But, story-wise, and since our surly teen has now grown up a bit and is just a few years shy of 30, I can accept the prequels as part of the whole Star Wars Saga.

I didn't make it to Margarita's tonight after all. My baby's sick. :-( When I left for work this afternoon, Isaac had a temp of 102. And I thought we were done being sick at our house. :::sigh::: I hated to leave him. Of course, he's in excellent care with Daddy, but, Moms, you know what I'm feeling here, right? When I got out of my meeting, which, not surprisingly, ran longer than estimated, I just wanted to get home, tuck in my baby, and read to him. So, I'll try to catch the next local gathering. Hope you all had fun!

Hey, Ev I hope Isaac gets better soon! The flu has been horrible this year already! I got Maura both her flu and H1N1 shots so hopefully she is able to avoid it.

How was "Margarita's" last night? I had plans to get together with my married girlfriend so going out to bars and the such aren't appealing to her. I hope whoever went had a good time! I did have a good time with my girlfriend though but drank a little too much wine and my head is feeling it today! Moving very slowly but the weather isn't helping either! It actually feels good to move in slow mode for once. The past couple of months have been a whirlwind for sure.

I hate the fact that so many kids are sick. It breaks my heart. I've had the same cold twice in the last 2 months. It's miserable but at least I'm not flu sick. I can't seem to get it out of my house. I've never been a germaphobe but I use my sleeve to open doors in public, no hand shaking, etc. I can't imagine how this winter will be.

Hope all had fun last night. I was sleeping by 8:30 coz this cold wipes me out.

Did I mention that I love this site. I feel like I know all of you.

Pam: I'm glad to hear she's so chipper. You are one lucky lady. I'd like to meet her sometime. She sounds wonderful.
I miss having young ones around.

I've babbled long enough. Can anyone tell I'm bored? lol

I have a Star Wars fanatic as well...my Julian is obsessed and he loved Darth Vader, which at times made me wonder if he was going over to the Dark Side. I liked them all including the prequels...well um who could resist Natalie Portman grrrrrrrrrrr.

Hello everyone,For those of you who are into Star Wars I have a friend who is a member of 501st U.K.Garrison.They dress in Star Wars costumes. They do charity events around England.( I think they are big nerds who like to dress up and drink). But they are great. I could get signed pictures of a Storm Trouper and Baba Fett if anyone is interested. For your children of course.

My husband and I are meeting up with Robert Ferendo in London for dinner .I will post pictures.

May the Force be with you.

Joni! I'd like to take you up on the signed photos offer! Isaac would flip! (And his Mum & Dad would think it was really cool, too!) We saw the 501st march in the motorcade during Star Wars Weekends at Walt Disney World last June. Their costumes are incredible!

We saw Jeremy Bulloch (Boba Fett) and David Prowse (the body of Darth Vader) in person there, and the weekend we attended was hosted by the actors who voice Anakin and Ahsokah in the current animated Clone Wars series, so Isaac was in heaven! Also that weekend, Isaac was chosen from the crowd to participate in the Jedi Training Academy, where a couple of dozen kids get a lesson in lightsaber dueling. Of course, who should arrive in the midst of the lesson but Darth Vader and Darth Maul! Isaac got to battle Darth Maul and really got into character!

The previous weekend, just before we arrived at WDW, had been hosted by Warwick Davis who played Wicket the Ewok - and who Isaac more readily recognized as Professor Flitwick from the Harry Potter movies. We kept running into him and his family all over the Magic Kingdom. We tried not to act like dopey, gushing fans, although I admit, when we realized we were directly across from them while viewing the afternoon parade, I did catch his family on video a few times, lingering a bit on them after a float had passed by or under the guise of filming the walking and dancing characters!

LOL! Yes, a little eye candy does go a long way, huh, Glenn? If not for Natalie Portman - and, for my sake, Liam Neeson - Jar Jar Binks just may have sent a number of Original Trilogy fans screaming from the theatre. Just my humble opinion... :-)

Can't say my girls are "Star War" fans like some of yours are! They are great movies though. I remember going to see one of them "mind altered" and after the movie I couldn't understand why my car wouldn't fly like the space ships in the movie did!! Charlotte Hybsch was in the passenger seat straight as an arrow going "oh boy and I am driving with her why??" John Normand and Kevin Farley were sitting in the back seat just laughing their fool heads off as they were in the same "altered state of mind" that I was!!! Then we drove up to "Tower Hill" and the cops came and we thought we were busted for sure but he was cool and told us if we were going to be there to bring fishing poles and put them in the water so it would appear we were there to fish and not party!!! That was in the days when you could actually drive in and around the pond and apparently didn't have to have a fishing license to fish there. The things we remember and lived through.

Glad to see some sun today! Going to see "Transiberian Orchestra" tonight and looking forward to it as I have not seen them before and heard they put on a awesome show! Will let you know!

Joni hope you had a nice dinner with Rob! Will look for the picture! Sorry we never connected on the phone. I know you tried several times. My life is just starting to settle down some and I am not running like the rat on the wheel trying to catch up on things from being gone for a month in the hospital with Maura.

I hope everyone and their children are able to stay healthy this season and avoid the flu!! If nothing else get your flu shot and if the H1N1 vaccine ever becomes available for everyone get that too!! I am a nurse trainer for the state of NH and they are highly advising people get them if and when they are available.

Linda, now it's my turn to ramble...I am planning to have some kind of gathering after the holidays and will let eveyone know when it is so you can meet Maura. The positive thoughts and prayers for her worked as you would never know she went through what she did, thank God!

Linda Lemay (Wojceshonek)

I had a chance to get a free flu shot at work but couldn't get it because of a stupid cold. I asked my doctor for one and he said he was out. go figure!

I'm looking forward to meeting Maura. and seeing all who go also.

It'll be perfect for an after the holiday get together.

Joni, thanks so much! MTFBWY & Live long and prosper! Wait... I'm mixing up my sci-fi... ;-D

My full address is on my profile so just click on my name above. If we can keep the photos secret, we'll frame them for Isaac for Christmas, adding to his signed photo collection, including The Wiggles & Mr McFeely from Mister Rogers' Neighborhood!

We met Mr McFeely in person at the Manchester City Library, and he spent quite a lot of time talking with Isaac, who was three at the time. Very nice man. [Mum got a signed photo, too, by the way. Having grown up watching Mr Rogers, we were there just as much for my benefit :) as Isaac's!] Later, we bumped into him "out of character", looking like his real self, on our way out of the library, and, as David Newell, he asked Isaac if he enjoyed meeting Mr McFeely. Isaac promptly showed off his autographed photo and readily described their encounter. Isaac had no idea he was still talking to Mr McFeely! It was so cute!

Channel 11 was at the library for the appearance and, upon Mr McFeely's suggestion, filmed Isaac and Mr McFeely doing a PBS promo spot! They tried to get Isaac to say a line, but I warned the producer as I signed her permission form that Isaac will most likely giggle through it. He did, so we figured they wouldn't ever use the footage. Six months later, a friend mentioned that they spotted Isaac on Channel 11! Turns out, they used the footage as part of a montage of clips set to music. It was really cool! For about a year, we'd usually catch the promo on Saturday nights while watching British Comedies on channel 11.

Rob is in London now? He sent me a text telling me my boy (Tom Brady) was going down tonight. I took a vacation day to watch the game. Rats, I won't be able to give him a hard time (unless I wake him up in London)...evil giggle!

Ev: your Mr. McFeely story is priceless. which reminds me. How many of us were ever on Uncle Gus? Fess up people.
I'll start. I never was but always wanted to be. All my friends got to go on. My husband said he was on it.

11/15/09 04:55 PM #1605

Evelyn Gratton (Pepin)

Oh, Donna! Rob's just asking to be woken up in London! He-he-he... I'll be sure NOT to watch the game, ensuring a Patriots victory!

Lately, it seems they do much better if I just stay in the kitchen making sandwiches. When I watch, the opposition tends to score. A few weeks back, I had dozed on the couch at the start of a game and woke at the end to a tied score. I watched the overtime... I am so sorry. :( I'm a loyal New England fan, but it has become clear that I'm not allowed to watch any game this season! Yes, I take it very personally.

Linda, I never was on Uncle Gus but I think my friend, Suzy Rabb, got to go with her Brownie Troop. I was quietly jealous. I also remember Jane Berzofski (sp?? Ive spelled her name various ways just now and none look right, so we'll go with this version for sake of time. Any Green Acres kids out there remember Jane?) - Jane, also a Brownie, was in my 2nd grade class, and I remember seeing her on the show. She even got to sit at the desk with Uncle Gus! And my husband got to go on with his Cub Scout pack.

I always wanted to go on and get a shot at naming all the states and their capitals. I was so good at that at home! :)

Mary Schunemann (Felton)

Uncle Gus! OMG! My cousin Gary was on once, what I wouldn't give to see a tape of that one, it's a family classic! My sister was the fussiest eater alive and ate so little everyone said she ate like a bird.
Gary sits at the famous desk and tells Uncle Gus that his cousin is a bird. He really didn't know what to say, so he played along "Oh a bird, really". "Yes" said Gary "and all she eats is birdseed". LOL! To THIS DAY we haven't let her forget it.
Ironically, Gary's father's name was Gus and therefore was MY Uncle Gus! Thanks for the laugh about this, I haven't thought about it in a long time...

Linda...Laura Kohut and I were on as kids...we were so rowdy they threatened to kick us off...and of course the pre cursor to American Idol...Star of the Day w/Dave Manard...you had to vote by postcard

Donna Keenan (Grady)

I was on it...I remember what I was wearing right down to the bells and ribbons in my banana curls! I sang I'm Henery the Eighth I am by Hermits Hermits (I think that is who sang it).

My entry postcard was pulled on Rex Trailer's Boom Town, and I won a Pepsi Cola racing jacket in 4th grade! I was going for the trip to Knott's Berry Ghost Farm, but having my name said on TV and winning the jacket was cool. (Although Rex's sidekick, Billy (??) mispronounced Gratton as "Great-ton" :::shrug:::) I remember the jacket was lightweight nylon and came folded flat in a 9 x 12 manilla envelope in the mail. Looked more substantial on TV.

Linda Lemay (Wojceshonek)

you all have me cracking up. I remember watching friends and relatives on uncle gus. My cousin got bonked for missing a state. And 2 other cousins sang the Brownie Smile Song. I still remember the words and I was never even a Brownie.

I also had a friend that was on BoomTown. lol Boom, Boom, Boom Town(with the trigger finger in the air)

Uncle Gus was truly "CLASSIC".

Wouldn't it be fun if they had a marathon of Uncle Gus shows?

F.Y.I. There is a face book page for Uncle Gus.
I do believe that he is the one that got me to pat my head and rub my belly at the same time. I just tried it and I still got it.
