Message Forum?? Duh, No wonder I've been missing so much.
As for the Hawaii trip I remember that too. The Memorial was amazing. It was the first time I was further away from home than Connecticut. And I wish I was back there right now. Damn cold out.
I'm busy tonight but will try to stop by later.

I was so pissed (excuse my french) for missing last night. I had plans to go and all of a sudden people dropped by the house. Ugggghhhhh. I was so dissapointed. I really wanted to go out and see you all. Nobody left my house until 1am and the last to leave was at 2. It seems when people want a place to go out to and drink they end up at my house. I'd really like to go out publicly for a change. Oh well, your next get together I'll leave the house at noon to make sure I'm not home if people decide to stop by.

Hope you all had a good time. Sorry I missed you.

Hi All,

Thanks to everyone who arranged for the dinner get together this weekend. I knew I couldn't make that one, but look forward to getting together in the future.

Mary - Small town living can be a great blessing. Love to you (and your son) and all troop families who won't be together this holiday season.

Melissa - Love the cyber wine tasting idea. How about a cyber New Years toast to each other?

Damien - I have always wanted to see the Blue Man Group. OR - Anything interesting coming up at the Verizon Center in 2010?

Hugs all around,
Colette

Thanks Colette!
How did your show go by the way? I soooo wanted to surprise you but I had a solo show of my own I had to hang that Monday, and as usual had a million last minute things to do.
Hope you had some sales...always a good thing!
Merry Christmas sweetie!

Hey everyone, great time Saturday night at the Olive Garden. I have never been sung Happy Birthday in Italian at least I think that is what they were singing. Great time with old friends what else could I ask for. Thanks for all your Birthday wishes you made my day.
I love getting to know people I really didn't know back in high school.
The holidays are fast approaching. Does anyone else feel overwhelmed. OK if you are pleawe post some ideas on how not to be overwhelmed.

I leanned last year - never save all your shoppihg for Christmas eve day. Yes I got it done I had a plan and was on a mission. I was exhausted by the end of the day. ok that is my two cents. Anyone else have a helpful tip.
Haapy Holidays
Cathy

Sometimes just spending time with your friends and family is all the gift we need.

Carol P and I spent a day with the horses and went for a little ride. We had a great day although the horses were stubborn as all heck. They have their moods. The gift in disquise was laughter.
All the nights were have all gone out. The gift, getting to know everyone and missing those that don't live nearby.
Keep the gifts coming.

Cathy: Actually, they were singing, "Damn she looks great! There's no way she's 49!" Yes, Saturday was a ton of fun.

I agree...finding the gifts in every situation makes life so much happier! Life is what we make of it. I love your spin on the experience with the horses...it was funny...thanks again for the invite.

Happy Holidays to everyone!

Happy belated birthday Cathy. sorry I didn't make it Saturday.
As for relieving Holiday stress. I find the years we travel to FL or CA the least stressful. We started going away for Christmas when my daughter moved to Ca 5 years ago. We've spent 3 Christmas' there and 2 in FL with my parents. It's so nice not to have to decorate and entertain. This year we are having it and I'm finding it very stressful.

I find making a list of everyone I have to buy for helps me not feel overwhelmed. I have turfed the tree decorating over to my oldest daughter and her friends. Must say I don't have a lot of Christmas Spirit this year and not sure why but I just don't. I have much to be grateful for though for sure.

Good family and friends are wonderful! You can never have enough friends and meeting ones I didn't have in high school and getting to know them now has been one of the best gifts for me!

It isn't what you buy for people that counts but what you do for them in their time of need. As I have found no matter how independent you try to be in life you always have things in your life come up that you need a helping hand with. What makes me the happiest is doing nice things for others without them having to ask first but just offering it as that's what good friends do for one another. Well that's my two cents worth on the whole Christmas season and all the others in between.

Mary - to my surprise folks are spending money (on art) again, which is very encouraging. Hope your show was great!

Pam - I think people don't feel they have the holiday spirit if they don't (choose to) participate in multiple holiday events, decorating worthy of Martha Stewart, excessive purchasing, extravagant meals, tons of cards etc. Here's my spin on Christmas. It's not my birthday! The calmer I can keep my life during the holidays, the more properly I can focus on the reason for the season.

You have been so busy and stressed this year. Treat yourself to something you would enjoy. You deserve it.

If we could just do away with all the major gift buying and concentrate on enjoying friends and family with maybe a small token gift here and there it would be great. With it the way it is, it makes me miserable. I dislike shopping for people, i'm just not good at it. Okay enough of my tears, i'll look into group rates for BMG after the hoildays and get back to people then. Merry Christmas to you all. Damien
PS
Joanie, maybe there is a BMG in England and we can do that phone thing again. lol Merry Christmas

Blue Man Group! They're so cool! Saw them twice in Vegas and once in Boston. For the tee-hees, my husband, an awesome drummer/percussionist himself, looked at the requirements of a Blue Man when they were recruiting for their Vegas show. Apparently, aside from being a proficient percussionist, having the ability to catch small objects (i.e. marshmallows) in one's mouth from a hefty distance does go a long way...

My heart goes out to you and your family . This has to be the hardest time of year to lose someone. I will say a prayer for you and your mother-in-law.

I feel your pain Joanie, Dec. 18 is the anniversary of my mom's passing (1990). I will say a prayer for you all, it's so much harder at Christmas! Eventually it's the happy memories that will remain and the sadness will fade. I promise :)

Thanks Laura for the remembrance of the greatest generation that ever lived. Every Saturday morning my father in law and I hit the Red Arrow for breakfast and swing by the beautiful WWII memorial. He has two brothers and his own name listed up there and numerous friends from the West side. He served in the Pacific 82nd Airborne and was in many battles and major campaigns as well as occupied Japan. His stories are about the simple things that happened to him that kept those men and women hopefull and attached to home. I'm trying to get him to write down alot of this because it is such good stuff. We never had to face the challenges that this generation had to face, but hearing him talk about the simple pleasures that they had while serving is as delicious as a bowl of New England clam chowda after snowblowing your driveway

Scott...all I can say is AMEN TO THAT! To show our appreciation congress is in the process of cutting 500 billion from medicaid. Do you think that will affect the Greatest Generation? Shameful, just shameful!
