Wow! Where to begin? After graduation, I attended Wytheville Community College, earning my Associates of Arts & Sciences degree in Education. Then, I found myself @ Radford University, where I earned my Bachelor's degree in Middle School Education in May 2004.
In January of '05, I moved to Charlotte, NC and I taught 7th and 8th grade English for two years in Salisbury, NC. Then, I was given the opportunity to return to SWVA and teach in Carroll County. I've now been there for three years, and I love it!
In February of 2008, I met the love of my life, Jeremy Allen Bloomer, and thus began the greatest journey of my life so far. :-) Jeremy proposed February 13, 2009, and we were wed on June 27 of this year!
I served as the youth leader of Wytheville First Church of God for two years, until I decided to take a respite. I continue to serve on the Board of Christian Education for the church, and I continue to teach in the Children's Ministry. Jeremy plays the drum's in the church band. Church continues to be a big part of my life.
Shanna & I separated after graduating from WCC to pursue different degrees, but we still see each other as often as possible. People still confuse us! :-) It's great to see her visit in Wytheville and one of my students runs up to greet her, thinking it's me. She makes an annual visit to my classroom each year. The students love it.
My grandmother passed away this year on March 1, after a brief illness. I believe this was the hardest moment of my life, as I have always been "Granny's girl." However, I know she is in a better place and no longer suffering!
My father passed away on June 3 this year, as well. Another hard time. We traveled to Michigan to be with the family and have a memorial service. This was a sad time for all of us, for so many reasons. Again, I know he's not suffering.
This summer, I am babysitting a 5 year-old full-time. I also often keep a 3 year-old girl, her 9 year-old sister, their 2-month old brother, and an 11 year-old girl. They are my "mini-family," and I love them dearly!
So, that's the majority of what I have been doing since graduation!
