I wanted to get away from home so I went to Southern Utah and Attended Dixie College. I served a Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Arizona and Las Vegas May 1969 - 1971. Met and married my wife after graduating from Dixie. I graduated from Southern Utah University (SUU) and BYU and served over 8 years in the US Air Force. Did my time in Vietnam and Lived in Alaska and the Netherlands. I left the service in 1982 and joined the Army National Guard. Taught high school for 4 years in Payette. Returned to active duty in the US Army and did a tour at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln (Huskers!)in ROTC. Transferred to Washington D.C. and worked at the Pentagon for 4 years. (The area we were in was the part of the building hit in 9/11 but everyone had been moved out for renivation of the building in 1997. When the attack accured only about 180 had move back in. That area should have had over 8500 people in it.) I moved to Redstone Arsenal in Alabama for my last assignment. I designed weapon systems for the military and tactical software. Moved 18 times before my last assignment in Alabama; retired after 29 plus years in the military. My wife went to work as a Flight Attendant when I retired. We live in Alabama now. I went from Dixie College to the Heart of Dixie. (Want me to sing you the song Dixie? I know it.) Got go go to New Orleans several times during the time after Katrina. We gutted out homes to the framework so they could be rebuilt. What an experience. I work a lot now in Family History Research and in the Birmingham Alabama Temple for the church. Retirement isn't what it was supposed to be. I need to get a job to rest. I have published 2 books so far. One is an illustrated Christmas Story called 'Light of The World's, the 2nd is an Historical Novel called 'Til We Meet Again'. The 1st I own the rights and print as needed, the 2nd is published as a Amazon Kindle book. Keeps me busy. Now in paperback.
In 1987 I was teaching high school Speech and Drama in Payette and a Junior girl was asking me lots of question about Meridian High School. She wanted to know if I had known Dottie Coltrin when I attended Meridian. Turned out to be Dottie's daughter. I think that is when I first realized I was getting old.
