Jim Munro

James J. Munro Sr, 77, departed this life on December 14, 2016, in Charleston, South Carolina. Jimmy was born and resided in Miami, Florida for 42 years. He was a graduate of Miami Jackson High, The City of Miami Fire College, and earned a Bachelors degree at the University of Miami, majoring in accounting. After earning his degree he started his own accounting practice, with wife Judi, and kept it running for 10 years. He served in both the Navy and Marine Corps, was a City of Miami firefighter for 18 years, and was a member and officer of Westwood Optimist Club, where he coached youth football for several years. In 1981 he relocated to Tacoma, Washington, where he was an auditor for the state, also a member of the Civil Air Patrol. He retired from the state in 2006. In 2009 he moved to Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, where he joined the South Walton Church of Christ. From there, due to declining health, he moved to Charleston, South Carolina, to be with his daughter and family. His last years were spent close to his daughter Julie and son-in-law Mike and family. He found great joy in being with his grandchildren; Kaylee, Shelby, and Cassidy along with his new grand-sons-in-law, Austin and Caleb. He was preceded in death by wife Brenda. The oldest of eight children he is survived by four siblings, 2 children, 3 stepchildren, several grandchildren and great grandchildren. A brief visitation will be held at 12 pm on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Carolina Memorial Park, North Charleston. A graveside service will follow at 1 pm and will be officiated by Richard Perea, pastor of Calvary Chapel of Charleston. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Cancer Society.
