
Jimmie Rountree, age 77, went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ early Monday morning, Sept. 30th, in the arms of his wife of 53 years, Nan. He is survived by Nan, children Jim Rountree and Taren Ruggiero, daughter in law, Laura Rountree, grandchildren Sara and Krystina Ruggiero, Shannon Rountree, and his sister Janie Schell.
Jim was born in Miami, Florida and attended Miami schools, graduating from Miami Jackson High School where he was an outstanding athlete, excelling in football, basketball and track. He attended the University of Florida, where he played football for the Gators and received many honors including All-SEC and was inducted into the Gator Hall of fame in 1971. Jim played football in the Canadian Football League for the Toronto Argonauts for 10 years and coached the Argonauts for 7 years. During his playing years in Canada, Jim was selected to the All Star team 7 times and was recently named to the All Time Argonaut Team.
Later, Jim and his wife opened a State Farm Insurance Agency in Tamarac, Florida. He was also a Charter Member and Deacon at Coral Baptist Church, also known as Church by the Glades.
