In Memory

Pam Thompson

Pamela H. Thompson of Bristol, England, and Wainscott, died on August 11 in Bristol after a short illness. She was 81. She was born in Montclair, New Jersey, to Bogart and Elizabeth (Higgins) Thompson on October 18, 1943. The oldest of five siblings, she attended Montclair High School and the University of Tennessee. Smart, gregarious, and irreverent, with a passion for news and gossip, she thrived in her work on Time Magazine’s news desk. In retirement, she split her time between Bristol and Wainscott. Her family and friends remember her larger than life personality, her booming voice and sharp wit, and her love of conversation, beach time, food, animals, and British telly. She is survived by her siblings, Betsy Burgess (David Richards) of Verona, New Jersey, Anne (Fritz) Seifert of Stuart, Florida, Ben Thompson (Charlotte Meryman) of Williamsburg, Massachusetts, and Sally Thompson of Bridgehampton; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 27, at 11 a.m. at St. Ann’s Episcopal Church in Bridgehampton.
