Armando Acuna

I enlisted in U.S Army 1968-1971, served in Germany and Viet Nam. Returned to Morenci and worked for Phelps Dodge 1971-1978. Graduated from EAJC 1978. I married Veronica Trujillo class of 1973. We left Morenci in 1978 so I could attend the U of A. I graduated from University of Arizona 1981 and earned a BS degree in Public Adm. Worked and lived in Globe, Arizona for six years as a social worker. Returned to Tucson in 1986 and taught at Pueblo High School. In 1988 I worked as a probation officer 1988 -2008. Retired in 2008 and loving it. I have three grandchildren and want more. Ed Espinoza from the 1968 class and I still play tennis, we challenge anybody for a doubles match.

We are the only classes who attended five years of high school as the 8th grade was in the high school. I was the only person in the history of Morenci High School to fail PE and had to take five classes my senior year. Coach Friedli kicked me out of PE for being a good boy. Ruth Shaw, our counselor called me Armand, she was neat. Our PE class of first period my senior year was called the Second Aninmal Farm. We beat everybody up, that was very fun. I can still hang the hunky dork from the middle of my hair, the thing hanging from my hair in my senior picture, my trade mark. I don't use it often since my children tell me I am not in the 60's anymore.
