This recent update regarding the passing of Daniel "Danny" Theobald Class of 1966 was supplied by his long time good friend and 1966 Classmate Kristopher "Kris" Keller.
Kris had received a message from Danny's niece that he had passed away on August 4, 2023. Apparently Danny had been in failing health with complications from Covid & pneumonia.

Danny and I became good friends when I arrived at MoVal from Offutt AFB over Christmas break 1964-65. Danny was always fun to be around and I will miss his humor and laughter. I was able to visit him several times over these past years. One great memory happened early in the second semester junior year. Danny and I were heading out the east gate of March AFB on Eschscholzia Ave (yes, I had to look it up!) enroute to Warner Ranch where I lived. He was driving his parents brand new white 1965 Chevy Caprice at what could be considered a 'high rate of speed'. Note: (We were belted in). Both being new to the area, as we approached Perris Blvd at approx. 70+mph we didn't see the stop sign until there was no reasonable time to stop. We looked at each other and both nodded 'go for it', not realizing it was a 'T' intersection. If you remember Perris
Blvd had quite a crown to it and we launched Evel Knievel style over the ditch and wire fence into the plowed field. We were able to get out of the field and to my house where we spent considerable time washing down the car, amazed that there was no damage. I don't think his parents ever found out. Good times!! Rest in peace my good friend. Kris

I only knew Danny thru our history class with Mr. Herbert "O" Brayer. I think at one point Mr. Brayer claimed to have served in the Navy as an ex- Admiral. Maybe it was in another country or in his previous life, I forget.
Anyway, having Mr. Brayer as an instructor always left things open for a carnival type atmosphere. The embellished stories he would try to pawn off on even the uneducated was a joke. His facts rarely aligned with reality leaving things open for unending debates on fact or fiction.
With this all said, as the manure began to flow, I could see Danny rolling his eyes and trying not to burst out with laughter. Leaving me with truly some entertaining moments from our late afternoon US History (Fiction) class.

Danny and I enlisted. We were in boot camp at the same time. He was a few weeks behind me.

Sorry to hear of the passing of Danny.
The mention of Dannys record collection brought back a memory of the many day trips I would take with Danny to visit Antique or second hand stores. We were on the hunt for Victorolas and old RCA phonographs and yes, those old thick, I think 33 RPM records. He would go through stacks and stack of records looking for just the right ones for his collection. It was amazing how many of those old records he could find as we traveled around Riverside County on the hunt.
