Comments:

May 17th, 2010 I retired myself from large scale video production after 24 years. I still do small projects.

I'm involved in Field and Professional audio recording when called upon. Also run live sound.

De-bug and minor PC repair on the side.

My outside hobbies include vintage audio gear, music, and Old Time Radio.

currently residing in Cedar Rapids

School Story:

In 1986-1988 drama class - I worked behind the scenes - the old Dukane sound system in the Auditorium was DOA and in need of replacement.
In 1986, it was decided - and Mr. Eldon Benedict was not in on the decision - to run new wires in the theater and catwalk and "borrow" speakers from the Chorus room (Panasonic Thrusters), also without permission.
Since I had brought the speaker wire from home, I was nominated to run the new leads. With the help of fellow thespians and a chair, I was boosted up above the light/sound booth and away I went across the girders, wires in hand.
I get about half way across and Mr Benedict looks up and says what's on his mind.
After running the wires and connecting the speakers on the catwalk, I ran the other feed down to stage right and connected a breakout box for audio feed to the stage.

After getting another mild chewing out from Mr Benedict, and explaining why we did what we did, the audio productions during 1986-1987 and 1987-1988 was better than the prior years. I still got docked a few hours from my Letterman Pin credits for that stunt - otherwise, I 'd have 2 pins.

The amp we used for those 2 years along with the Fall/Spring plays and 1 Act Festival (R.I.P. Erich - you are missed!) was my fathers and was a Sansui AU-4400 and my 2 mic/ 3 stereo channel Realistic audio mixer (still have both). I used the same setup at the Moose Teen dances during the same time frame. Anyone remember those?

Oh, yeah, the Choir department tracked down their speakers after the '87 fall production. We ended up re-wiring the existing speakers in the auditorium for those two years.
