Walter Donavin Basford

El Dorado County - Walter D. Basford, a resident of Napa, died Friday, July 11th in El Dorado County as the result of injuries sustained in an auto accident. He was 45.

He was born in 1941 in Oklahoma and came to California at an early age. He graduated from Napa High in 1960 and in 1962 married his wife, Helen. He worked at Mare Island for a short time and then went to work for PG&E in Oakland as a foreman in (sic)department general construction. He later became self employed in Napa in construction with his brother, Gerald.

Mr. Basford is survived by his wife, Helen of Napa: four daughters, Alice, Melody, June and Naomi Basford, all of Napa: his parents, Margaret and Walter Basford of Marysville: four brothers, Gerald of Napa, Mike and Phillip of Benicia, and Melvin of Long Island, NY, two sisters, Alice Barber and Erma Dickerson, both of Napa: and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 3:30pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness in Napa, 2441 West Imola, conducted by Elder Luther Rhoads. Inurnment will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of the Pines in Placerville.
