Riccardo P. Molinari

Riccardo P. Molinari, 79, of Napa, passed away May 8, 2011, at Queen of the Valley Medical Center with family at his side.
Born Oct. 18, 1931, in San Francisco, he was the son of the late Riccardo Pietro and Mary Anselmi Molinari.

Inducted into the Army March 2, 1956, discharged Dec. 17, 1957, he then served in the Reserves until March 1, 1962. After retiring from the service, he came to Napa and became an English teacher at Napa High School. He earned his counselor’s credential at USF, then became a counselor at Napa High School. When Vintage High School opened in 1972, he became counselor, then head counselor until he retired in June of 1993.

Riccardo was involved in many activities after retiring. He worked for the Napa Valley AIDS Project for many years. He was Eucharistic Minister at Queen of the Valley Chapel until his death and volunteered at The Queen for 25 years. He thoroughly enjoyed the movies, opera, symphonies and world travel.

Survivors include his sister, Irene Molinari of San Francisco; cousin, Carmen Glaviano of Sacramento; and sister-in-law, Ann Molinari of Napa. He was uncle to Carla (Eamon) Griffin, Kathryn (Tommy) Kenney and Riccardo Molinari, great-uncle to Alanna and Ben Griffin and Jared and Caitlin Kenney. He is predeceased by his sister, Louise Molinari, and brother, Frank Mario Molinari.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, May 23, 2011, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Interment with military honors will be at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 27. Donations in his memory may be made to the Riccardo P.
