Born Jan. 31, 1942 in Torrance to Virgil and Margaret Chapman, Christine Gunderson passed away Sunday June 24, 2001. She was preceded in death by her father, Virgin Chapman.

Christine left behind a daughter, Sherri Gunderson, a daughter and son-in-law, Sandi and Paul Aguon; a son, Robert Gunderson; a granddaughter, Alyssa Aguon; her mother, Margaret Chapman West; sister and brother-in-law, Kay and Jerry Byassee; and several nieces and nephews

Her death was due to cancer and her family will miss her more than words can say, but the loss of their daughter, mother, sister, grandmother and aunt has been eased because they know that Chris is with her Heavenly Father. No matter how bad the pain got, Chris never complained. If asked whether or not she wanted something for the pain, Chris would always reply, "yes, please." She always thought about others and put them first, right up to the end.

Christine graduated from high school in Napa, where she played the clarinet and was active in concert and marching band.

Some of Christine's hobbies were collecting dolls and teddy bears, but her favorite pastime was doing things with her family.

In lieu of flowers, Christine had said that she would like a tree planted in her memory.
