James "Jim" Gallagher

James "Jim" Gallagher passed June 8,2018 at the age of 75, in his Santa Margarita home with his wife, Jill by his side. Jim enjoyed his childhood growing up as one of 4 children born to John and Kathryn "Katie" Gallagher in Napa, California. Graduating from Napa High School in 1960 then joining the United States Marine Corps,Jim graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 1972 with a degree in Industrial Technology.  After 10 years working for Hayward Lumber Company in Morro Bay, Jim started his own construction company.  He built and remodeled homes and businesses mostly in San Luis Obispo County until his retirement.

Jim loved dirt bike riding, hiking ,fishing, camping, gardening, golf and working on his ranch with his wife. Jim felt it was important to volunteer in his community, through various Santa Margarita service clubs and events, including the Lions Club of Santa Margarita, Days of the Dons Celebrations and the Santa Margarita Wildflower Festival.  Jim leaves behind Jill, his wife of 35 years; his daughter Kimberly Carlton and husband Mike and two grandchildren; sister Pat Gerard and husband Ron; brother Dennis Gallagher and wife Linda; and many cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his twin brother John "JJ" Gallagher.

A celebration of Jim's life will be Saturday, September 22, 2018 at the Santa Margarita Senior Center at the Santa Margarita Park from 11am to 3pm. His  friends and family will share stories at noon with a potluck lunch to follow.  Please join us as we celebrate Jim's life. Bring photos, stories and something to share at the potluck.      John, Jim, Bill Simons, who drove old "Six Pack, and I used to camp out at Jim and Johns place on Darms Lane, down near the creek, in their back yard. Told allot of stories, and had allot of fun fishing with cherry bombs. We'd be thrown in jail today. Jim and John had a kool Vespa Scooter, we used to ride down the hiway on, when he come to pick me up once in awhile.. We had allot of fun in those days. Jim was a great kid, and so was his borthers. I remember the Gallagar family, and tthey were nice folks. I know Jim was loved, and will be missed. God be with you and your loved ones. Hope we meet again on one glorious day.
