In Memory

Virginia Grimoldi (Loeffler)

Virginia Grimoldi (Loeffler)

Virginia Caroline Loeffler

1942 - 2021

Virginia Caroline Loeffler passed away peacefully at home in Napa, California; surrounded by her loved ones on Sunday, July 4th. While her friends and family mourn her passing, we celebrate her beautiful life; which was filled with friendship, love and meaningful work.

Born in Napa to Nini and Frank Grimoldi; she shared her early life and an enduring bond with her beloved sister Elizabeth. Virginia was the caring and committed wife of Bill for 57 years, as well as a wonderful parent and friend to her daughter Katie (Joe Rogers) and her son Paul (Michael Sullivan). Her love for her adored grandson Joseph Sullivan Loeffler was without limits.

Virginia's extended family; composed of loving in-laws, nieces, and cousins --- including her aunt Billie Grimoldi, cousin Paddi Bentley (Bob), in-laws Bob and Jane Loeffler, and nieces Alison Hillenbrand (John) and Kirstin Littlejohn (Scott) --- are deeply saddened by her passing.

Virginia remained close to the many dear friends that shared her life over the years. These varied relationships; some beginning at Mt. George Elementary and St. John the Baptist Catholic School in the 1940s and 1950s, Napa High in the 1950s, Sac State in the 1960s or initiated while teaching in the 1970s through 2000s; enriched her life and brought her great joy through the years.

Virginia graduated from Napa High School in 1960, followed by studies at Napa Junior College and Sacramento State College and the pursuit of a business degree, leading to a job with the Napa Register. After marrying Bill in April of 1964 and establishing her young family; Virginia began commuting daily to Cal State University Sacramento, receiving her B.A. degree in Education in 1976. Her career of 26 years with the Napa Valley Unified School District started at Napa Junction Elementary, continued at Salvador Elementary and Bel Aire Park Elementary, and ended upon her retirement from Northwood Elementary in 2002.

The family is sincerely grateful to the teams of caregivers from Hired Hands Homecare and Collabria Care Hospice for the loving attention given to Virginia during her illness; especially Winnie Wegoye whose kindness and compassion sustained Virginia and her family during the toughest days.

In accordance with Virginia's wishes, a private internment service will be held at Tulocay Cemetery on Friday, July 16th.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests charitable contributions in memory of Virginia Loeffler be made to Brain Support Network, PO Box 7264, Menlo Park, CA 94026 or online at: www.brainsupportnetwork.org/donate

I can't remember the last time I saw Virgina. She was always a nice and quiet, and beautiful lady, as I recall.. In reading her bio, I am glad she live a complete and fulfilled life, with family and career, and most of all, was loved by those that knew her. We meet so many people in those grammer and high school years, and now many of those memories, all seems a blurr of time. Our real life begins after High School, as we build our careers, and family's. I hope we all meet again in a much better place where we may have time to really get to know, and appreciate each other.. God rest your soul Virginia. I hope we meet again.

Up until 2019 Virginia was an active member of the Class of 1960's reunion committee. She always had memories or current info of classmates to share along with cookies or better yet a big container of M&Ms which she refused to take home at the end of a meeting.
Virginia was funny and fiesty and by that I mean "don't mess with Virginia"
I will miss our occasional phone calls regarding her health updates or just catching up on gossip. Not good at goodbyes but then it's not really goodbye...see you at the "Big" reunion.
Condolences to Bill, Katie, Paul and of course your beloved grandson Joseph.

Our aquantance was casual but more than hi and bye: Somewhat shy but spirited as I remember her. But most notible about Virginia is that she never turned her smile away, from a look that fell her way. How fortunate are those who became her family, and how could this good lady do anything but "Rest In Peace" knowing the memories she left for her family.

Virginia was a great one to share a joke with. She had a great laugh. She will be missed but remembered by those that knew her.

I was only at Napa High my Senior year, so there were a lot of classmates I knew but didn't spend much time with.  Virginia was one of those, but I remember her vividly not just because she was very sweet and attractive, but becuase she always had a smile which was infectious.  I greatly appreciated that quality in her.
