Carl Richard Lewis, 70, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded
by family on October 12, 2012 due to complicated health issues. Carl, a native
Napan was born on June 2, 1942 to Grace and Paul Lewis. Carl had many fond memories while growing up with his five siblings on the family farm -Paul Lewis Dairy; there he resided for more than sixty years raising his children and sharing his childhood memories with his grandchildren and friends.
He worked on the Dairy in his younger years while attending Napa schools where he met his childhood sweetheart, Carol Stevenson, who later became his wife. They recently celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary.
Carl gained employment at Beaulieu Vineyard where he worked for 39 years until retirement having made lifelong friends with many that he worked with.
His passion for the outdoors and hunting led him to open and establish Bow Hunters Supply. He shared his time and talents with his family, friends and with those he met through his business.
Carl loved friend and family gatherings, celebrating birthdays and holidays. He gave his grandchildren many opportunities while watching them mature into adulthood. Carl was a devoted, kind and generous husband, father, grandfather and friend-someone that you could always count on. His life was a gift that he shared with many.
Carl is survived by his beloved wife, Carol Lewis; and two daughters, Donna Price and Renee (Patrick) Hodge. His grandchildren, Kyle and Jenni Price, Thomas (Gianna) Hodge, Morgan (Christopher) Russell, Jonathan Hodge, and great-grandchild, Eliza Jane Hodge. His step-mother, Isabel Lewis, brothers, Paul (Gloria) Lewis Jr., Ronald Lewis and sister Barbara (Ross) Solis; and many nieces and nephews
He was predeceased by his mother and father-Paul and Grace Lewis, sisters, Maxine Hayse and Beverly Haggard.
A service to honor his life will be held on Thursday, October 18 at 1pm in the Tulocay Chapel with graveside committal to follow. Memories and words of sympathy may be sent to the family on-line at www.tulocaycemetery.org.
