In Memory

Dianne Lonergan (Henry)

Dianne Marie Henry passed away on November 7th, 2019 at Napa Valley Care Center with her immediate family by her side. Dianne was born at Park's Victory Hospital on March 28th, 1941 to the late John (Lou) and Mildred Longergan.

She attended local schools graduating from Napa High School with the class of 1960. Dianne worked in Napa in the food industry eventually retiring from Napa State Hospital and raising her son Dennis Patrick Henry.

Through all of her life she loved being with family and friends. She enjoyed holidays, going out to restaurants for lunch or dinner with her granddaughter Caitlin, family or friends and was a huge fan and player of the Napa Fairgrounds Bingo games. She enjoyed all old classical movies/films and always had a passion for all music especially any singer/artist from 1950 through 1980. She memorized every word to every song. While sitting around the kitchen table, our family would sing songs of the past and Dianne would harmonize. In high school Dianne along with Linda Randol, Vern Davidson and Darryll Hunter sang in a group called the Octaves. Those times hold some of the best memories. In 2007 Dianne, brother Dick and Mary and best friend Cindy boarded a Princess Cruise ship and sailed to Alaska. That trip was a long time wish fulfilled.

Dianne was preceded in death by her parents Lou and Millie Longeran, brother Richard Longeran and beloved son Dennis Henry. She leaves behind her loving granddaughter Catlin Ann Henry, brother Dan Longeran and sister in law Stephanie, sister-in-law Mary Longeran, nieces Rebecca Bousfield, Kelly Caul, Amy Samolis and nephew Matthew Longeran, several great nieces, nephews, numerous cousins, and good friends.

At Dianne's request, no immediate service will be held. A private burial will take place at a later date with family. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Collabria Hospice, 414 South Jefferson St., Napa, Ca 94559.

I have been sitting here thinking of Dianne, and how our lives were during those school years. I remember Dianne's contagious voice, and laughter. We sang  in  Choir together, and e had some other classes together during those years, and it was always a joy ot be around her. I knew Jack and Bill Henry, who were a year or two ahead of us in school years. I believe Glenn and Connie Mefford were the Henry's cousins. I used to see them at the Salvador Dances out on Orchard Ave, and around the local  hangouts. I remember when my cousin Darryl Hunter, and Vern Davidson, Linda Randol, and Dianne had their singing grouip. They had allot of fun with music, and were great singers. I did not realize that I am 25 days older than Dianne, and we were borne in the some Hospital. I guess every one was born in Parks Victory in those days. I can still envision Diamme's beautiful smile, and still see her as I knew her 60 years ago.   I only hope to here their voices again one day, echoing amongst the stars of Heaven, bringing joy to our fallen classmates, and all  the host of Heaven. May God bring confort to her family, and loved ones, and I pray that Gods grace will shine upon Diamne, and that she will share in the joys of Heaven for all eternity. I will always remember her.

Hearing of Dianne's passing on has made me stop and think about her.  The last time I saw Dianne was in Foster Freeze down by the river many years ago.  She was  working behind the counter at the time and the place was not busy at all so we visited for awhile.  I did not know that she had married Jack Henry.  It came as a surprise to me at the time when she told me.  The first time I met Dianne was in Lincoln Elementary school.  We went all through grade school together.  I believe I remember that she lived on Main Street then, just down the street from the school.  I remember her in chorus also.  She had a really nice singing voice.  It is so sad to hear of another classmate  passing away, especially a classmate that I had known for such a long time.

Dianne was my oldest and best friend for as long as I can remember. We had many wonderful times together: many many trips to San Francisco for plays, movies, lunch or just sightseeing, trips to Yosemite, Monterey, Hearst Castle, Solvang, Disneyland, trips on trains, buses, boats and a cruise to Alaska.  Of course there were also all the dances, games, parties etc that we went to in our teenage years. I think that I did more with her than anyone else in my life.  I last saw Dianne in July of 2018 when my daughters and I went to visit her. Our families friendships went back many years as our parents, aunts, and uncles all went to school together in Napa and even our grandparents and great grandparents knew each other.  She will be sorely missed and I expect to see her again someday.
