Jim Reifke died Oct. 21, 2009 at his home in Sparks, NV. He will be missed by many fiends from coast to coast who he knew from his high school years to his later years.
He was employed by Easter Airlines from 1964 until they went out of business in 1989. It was a job that he loved. For most of his career he lived in Fla. He was married, but divorced without children. His nearest relative is his brother, Michael, and his two children.
Jim stayed in contact with some of his friends from Napa. I think he would have enjoyed his class reunion. I know and my family will miss him in the years to come.
Jim and I were in Mr. Woods 11th-grade English class in 1959. Jim always seemed to have a "twinkle" in his eyes and was full of life! We talked frequently in that class as we studied Beowulf, Edgar Allan Poe, Most Dangerous Game, and so forth.
I now wish that I had reached out to more of my classmates in those days. But in my teenage years I was interverted and quiet. I phoned Jim in December 1995 just after Christmas; but after 35 years, alot had happened in our lives. Jim mentioned Eastern Airlines (~24 years);divorce; 3 years in Nevada; his Mother having Alzheimers; and the Oregon Coast (where I had done geology field work for the U.S. Geological Survey in the late 1960s and early 1970s).
I am so sorry for the Reifke Family as Jim died so very early. It would have been nice to see Jim again, but I only attended the 25th Reunion (1985).
The Lord's Blessings on the Reifke Family! Jim Pearl (July 2, 2010)
