In Memory

John Rossi

John Rossi

John Raymond Rossi, 64, passed away on May 29, 2006, Memorial Day, at his home in Napa, with his loving and devoted family by his side.

John was born on Dec. 26, 1941, to John and Helen Rossi. He attended local schools and graduated from Napa High. John served in the Navy from 1960 to 1964. He worked for Kaiser Steel for 22 years and retired in January 2004, after 17 years at Napa Pipe.

John's biggest enjoyment was teaching his boys and grandchildren how to hunt and fish. They spent many years out of state searching for the "trophy buck," and all along John was that trophy buck. We will never forget some of his great hunting stories and there were many. Last summer, John enjoyed helping his grandson, Jonathan, get his hunting license. That was an exciting day for them both. John also had a passion for gardening and spent hours in his garden admiring his vegetables.

After his retirement he bought a motor home and a fishing boat and spent time with his family camping and fishing on Lake Berryessa and the Napa River. One of his last trips was a fishing derby at Lake Berryessa with many of his longtime friends. One of his friends flew in from Oregon just to spend time with John. It just shows how much John was respected and loved by all who knew him.

John married his best friend, Rosetta Morgan, on July 3, 1966. They shared a very special love and a life full of special memories. Even though we are grieving so deeply, we know that he is at peace and is always watching over us.

John leaves behind his loving wife of 40 years, Rosetta; three sons, John Jr. and his wife Kim and grandchildren, Jonathan and Gianna; Anthony and his fiancee Elisa and her son Brandon; Michael and his fiancee Stacy; stepchildren Harvey Dyer, Billy and his wife Geri Morgan and granddaughter Angela, Steve Morgan and his wife Marenko and grandchildren Eric, Stephanie, Sarah and Cory; David and his wife Nancy Morgan, Mike Morgan, Becky and her husband Joe Vicente and granddaughter Athena. John also leaves behind a sister Diane Rossi Ridley and an aunt Dorothy Jensen.

John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Helen Rossi, and grandson, Corey Morgan.

The family suggests donations to the Hospice of Napa Valley, 414 So. Jefferson St., Napa 94558.
