Danny Joe Swank

Former Napa resident Danny Joe Swank, 61, of Victor, Mont., passed away Wednesday Aug. 20, 2003, at Community Medical Center in Missoula, Mont.

Danny was born July 13, 1942, in Minneapolis, Minn., to the late Joe and Alice Cox Swank. He was raised and educated all around the world as the family followed his father's military career. He completed junior high and high school in Napa.

Danny entered the U.S. Navy in May 1961. He served with Observation Squadron 67 (VO-67) in Vietnam as an ordinance man (AO1). He was honorably discharged in May 1969. Following his discharge, he worked for the City of Napa as a water inspector until his retirement in 1992. Following his retirement, he moved permanently to the Bitterroot Valley in Montana.
 
Survivors include his two sons, Daniel and wife Nadine Deboard of Sacramento and Michael and wife Grace Swank of Las Vegas, Nev.; mother Alice Swank of Napa; brother Mike Swank of Napa; numerous grandchildren; and his close friend, Vicki Smith, of Victor.

A military graveside service will be held Saturday, Sept. 6, 2003, at 11 a.m. at the Victor Cemetery in Victor.
