In Memory

Sharon Woodard -Jan. 23, 1943 -May 2, 2007 (Turk)

We knew Sharon Woodard, a member of the Napa Senior High School class of 1960 passed away in 2007 however an obituary could not be found at that time but now we have one, it follows:

SHARON L. TURK JAN. 23, 1943 - MAY 2, 2007 Shari transcended this Earthly plane after a 35 year battle against debilitating autoimmune issues. In April of this year, her kidneys, suddenly and without warning, failed. She was supremely brave until the end, spreading joy, encouraging laughter, and gently comforting the people who flocked to the hospital, as she faced her own mortality.

Over the years and despite ill health, Shari freely shared the Turk family home with friends, neighbors, strangers, and any who needed to feel warmth of family and the joy of laughter. With an inspired wisdom, she taught many about the depth of love, the sanctity of marriage, the joy of parenting, and the many uses of glue and glitter. She was equally at ease and supremely skilled in all of her many roles: wife, mother, mentor, and friend. She died as she lived, a true believer that peace is possible and that love is the way. Her passing is a great loss and Shari will be missed by all who knew her, especially her husband of 44 years, Barry Turk; her children Shannon Turk-Stone and Brain Turk; her brother Ames Countryman and sisters Karon Scott of Idaho and Shannon Linden of Morada.

A memorial celebration of Shari's life will be held on Saturday, June 9th, 2007, form 11AM to 2PM at the Turk family home, 1770 Smith Drive, in Turlock and all are invited to attend. In honor of Shari's favorite place on Earth, the family will be wearing Hawaiian shirts and guests are encouraged to join in, as well.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made to Outlet/CHAC, 711 Church Street, Mountain View, CA 94041; Kid Korps USA, 265 Santa Helena, Suite 130, Solana Beach, CA 92075; or the Stanislaus Wildlife Care Center.

I knew Sharon well. She was one of the sweetest and most unassuming people in our class. Thank you for publishing her obituary. Many times I have wondered, as I have about so many classmates, where Sharon was and how she was doing.
